Thank goodness this is 2011. I hope there's someone similar to Genie in this musical at least, but I'm not quite sure how it would fit in. I'm going to see Aladdin as many times as possible over the next year!

No, Pixar has enough stuff in the parks I want more Classic Disney.

NO. This is the worst news I've heard about the future of DCA. Aladdin alone, for me, is worth the price of admission! Replace Aladdin if you must, but choose a replacement with an equally great, Oscar-worthy score that doesn't feel completely out of place in HPB. I love Toy Story, but as the sole full theatrical production at the DLR, a musical that was not intended to be a musical simply doesn't cut it.

I agree completely, however two things Pixar is now Disney, and the younger generation relates to Pixar (oh yeah and it sells merchandise.)

I guess I'm in the minority here but my son (4) is going to love the Toy Story Show.

Disney is catering the the young kids and I like that. I have fond memories of Autopia and the People mover from when I was a kid and my son will feel the same about Nemo and this new attraction.

It is a good idea if it's a good show.

isn't the show already done on one of the Disney cruise lines?

Is it me or does Buzz look like Dwight (Rainn Wilson) from The Office?

                        It's Disney's CaliPixar Adventure!!

I myself was hoping that a condensed version of The Lion King's musical would be next. Overall I fall under the 'Don't Care' category. This is something that I would watch once and not see again, like Aladdin.

I'll second that. Aladdin is a great show, but since DLR caters largely to locals, I don't think they can have the same show forever.

The problem is that I've read some micechatters comments that the Toy Story Musical is not a very good show. Anyone else who's actually seen it?

I just posted this comment on the Disney Parks blog, of course it is "Awaiting Moderation" let's see if they have the balls to post it:

Will this be a major budget show like the one it is replacing or more on the lines of the budget cutting “Celebrate” street party at Disneyland which replaced a major budget parade? Just curious.

So many things need improving in California Adventure...Aladdin is not one of them. It's a great show that seems to pack them in constantly

                                If it ain't broke...

Re: Toy Story the Musical to replace Aladdin

Aladdin is great, but it's time for a new show. It's great that they'll be bringing in yet another new attraction during the time period Mermaid and Carsland open.

From what I recall on a previous thread about this show, is that it just isn't a great show.

I'm not so concerned that it's a Pixar property, as much that Toy Story is not a musical. Disney has a huge library of musical classics that should be perfect for a broadway style show.

I'm slightly pessimistic, but hopeful this will not be a cheap production. They're shelling out the bucks on the DCA makeover, why would they do this on the cheap?

The version that people are criticizing is the show on the Disney cruise ship. I have no doubt that having it in the Hyperion (with John Lasseter looking over their shoulder), this will be a bigger and better version. I'm excited about the potential since its a good story and really in its own right it could be considered a Disney classic as well. I'm taking a very patient and optimistic wait-and-see approach.
I'm literally a born Disney fan! I was born at Providence St. Joseph Med Center right across the street from Disney Studios in Burbank. The same hospital where Walt died.

I feel there are so many other things at DCA that need attention before a new show goes into the Hyperion. Its just simply not necessary right now, plus its another TOY STORY element added to the parks. *yuck*

and this is exactly why i had to go see the musical at least once.

cause i have no idea when i'm going back to the parks
