  • [Chat] A Multi-Lingual Walt Disney Briefly Discusses Park On 1956 "What's My Line" TV Show

In 1956, Walt appeared on What's My Line. He discusses disneyland a bit, and gives his view of the relatively new (at the time) television medium. Was his ability to speak various languages able to keep the panel from guessing his identity? Take a look-see to find out.

Thanks for sharing that. I saw a rerun of that on GSN probably about a year ago. It just reminded me of how funny it was that he was talking about adding things that don't even exist anymore and then you go, yep, that was 1956.
Stalking is when two people go for a long romantic walk together but only one of them knows about it.

Walt's signature is one of the fanciest and most uplifting that America (and the world) has ever become accustomed to. It is quite thrilling, my7dwarves, to watch him sign in person before you.

I know... I agree!! We have become so accustomed to seeing the Walt Disney signature and font, but to actually see him sign his name is really neat!!
I was hoping he would do his falsetto voice too, because I have never seen him do the Mickey voice. I have just heard it in the old cartoons and such...

People were just as giddy about theme park attractions that are so simple compared to today's far more advanced and lavish rides and shows. I count my blessings... as we are indeed lucky, DLandFansAZ.

You're a lucky ducky. Hear's some 1940 footage from the Disney Vault that features Walt voicing his pal Mickey while exchanging dialogue with Billy Blatcher (the voice of (Peg-Leg) Pete). They were filming a cartoon short at th time. It was called Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip.

Thru Mickey, Walt supplied the first voice for an animated character. He must have been totally totally enthralled and enchanted with the new advancement his company had created.

                    Here's another clip...

When he worked, Walt didn't mouse around... much.

Thank you so much for digging this up and posting this, Ride Warrior!! That is awesome footage!! It is really weird seeing him doing Mickey's voice... kind of unreal. (I like the guy doing Pete's voice too...).
I have to show this to all the kiddies... especially my little guy who is obsessed with Mickey Mouse (and trains... I think he is going to be Walt when he grows up, lol!!). In fact, he is watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse right now... (the old Mickey is SOOO much better, but we don't have all the old cartoons).
I wish Vault Disney was still on Disney Channel because I am sure they have tons of vintage footage of everything Disney...
