    [Chat] Why Couldn't We Get This Instead?

    I'm not exactly thrilled that Toy Story the Musical is going to replace Aladdin at the Hyperion.

    I was browsing the Disney Parks blog and found this:
    Announcement: Disney Villains Set Sail with Disney Cruise Line Disney Parks Blog

    A Villains show?! That looks like a lot of fun. I would much rather have this than Toy Story.

    Thoughts?

      Why don't villains get any love in the parks?
      Current hat total: 100 of 100 - completed!

      Duckland      : Stroll through downtown Duckburg, making sure to tour Scrooge's Money Bin, then cross the Audubon Bay Bridge to St. Canard. Visit Liquidator's Splash Pool, and don't forget a stop by Bushroot Gardens!

          Makes ya kinda want to go on a cruise now doesn't it? I hear that the ones to Alaska and Mexico are pretty cheap too.

                Perhaps throwing it on the Cruise line .. is their way of "testing the grounds" .. before they attempt anything for the theme park division.

                Disney has avoided doing villain-based attractions, to this day.

                Perhaps it was considered taboo and too risky for the company's All-Happy reputation.

                So ... I'll take it .. this is their way to test the "waters" .. no pun intended.

                Dear Peoplemover Fans, If you want to see a new attraction that at least mimics the 1967 Peoplemover in a future Tomorrowland remodel, you need to write to the powers-that-be, and let them know. If you don't - Then the next time Tomorrowland is remodeled, you will see a land barren of any "Peoplemover" type attraction.

                    Short answer... isn't Pixar...

                    Longer answer... not 100% sure but I think the rotation is Cruise as a "test" before a full rollout in the parks (TS would seem to indicate that as well).

                      I hope so, I'd love to see this in the Hyperion or at DHS eventually.

                        Who knows! I'm not happy that the whole park is turning into Pixarland, but you have to admit, Toy Story does have some good music.

                          You'd think that, to save money, they'd fabricate it simultaneously for Disneyland and the Cruise Lines.

                          Sad, really. One chance to streamline something and they don't even bother. How un-DisneyParks like.

                              Even so, MatterhornJ's opinion is just as valid as yours. They could have been referring to the score, for all you know.

                                Minor grammar quibble...

                                He used "It's" in the correct form. "It's" is a form of "It is", while "Its" is the possessive form of "It". This is one of the few times where apostrophes are NOT possessive.

                                Continue on.

                                Also, the song titles are simply "You've Got a Friend in Me", "Strange Things", "I Will Go Sailing No More", and "When She Loved Me" (which doesn't really count since it was in Toy Story 2 and the musical represents the first film).

                                I'm being nitpicky today. Pardon me.

                                  The music for Toy Story isn't really...musical-theatre like.

                                  The music for Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast etc. work onstage because the people that created the score came from Broadway and approached those films as they would a stage musical.

                                  Toy Story didn't get such treatment. I haven't seen the Cruise show myself, but I haven't heard any positive reviews for it, either.

                                  I will say, however, that I think the song "When Somebody Loved Me" would work onstage. But again, that's from Toy Story 2.

                                    Did not know that.
                                    Also didn't know that the cruise line have a lot of Adult areas too.
                                    Love Disney, but a no kid zone does sound very very nice.
