[Question] Will it get crowded this Weekend? If it rains?

Since we all know this time of year makes the park super crowded will it still be crowded even if it rains all day this Saturday and Sunday?

I hope not. I'm heading out there Sunday-Tuesday (Yay!) and I'm hoping for not so crazy crowds. If the crowds follow past history though, if it rains, the parks will be DEAD. Last time I went in the rain, nothing was more than a 15 minute wait, and that was on a Saturday.

Rain will chase a few people away, I'm guessing mostly the locals who can come back at a later time when its not raining.

Just be sure to take a rain poncho and stash a change of shoes and a couple of extra pairs of socks in a locker or backback when you go!

I would just bring an umbrella and ditch the poncho.

Personally I'd ditch the umbrella and bring a poncho. Less things to have in your hand that you have to put away all the time. And if it's windy, umbrellas are no fun.

I think there will still be plenty of people around on Saturday, but not nearly as much as what we expect from a Saturday right before the Christmas vacation break for many schools. Most AP's are blocked out, and as we saw from a sunny Thanksgiving weekend, when you get rid of the majority of the 900,000 passholders, the crowds become much more manageable. If it's raining hard, I really think you'll cut the already reduced crowd size in half. It certainly won't be empty, but it shouldn't be crowded.

I really hate ponchos. All they do is drag water into all the stores and make a huge mess. The umbrella can be shook off outside. It's not that difficult to carry an umbrella, but I guess I don't go to DL loaded down with stuff.

Well....only 50% chance during the day. If it rains early on, then I think the crowds won't be huge. If the rain holds off, you'll see a sizeable crowd, but maybe not what we've seen on days when all 900,000 APs are unblocked recently, i.e. right before Halloween.

We are going Fri-Sat and anticipate that the rain + wind chill is going to scare most people away who think that this storm is going to be as bad or worse than last Monday's storm.

It looks like it's raining already in Santa Maria, which is about 30 miles north of Santa Barbara.

It's my twin nieces' birthdays on Saturday. They don't have passes so they are getting in with the birthday deal that's going on right now. I am really looking forward to this. I hope they don't chicken out.

Any advice to convince them to go in case it looks like they don't want to?

Tell them it is the only day they can go.

Or, you buy them AP's and take them whenever you want. (But it would be sweet to get them the passes on their birthday, saving $140+ in the process.)
Maybe that's the way. Tell them you'llbuy them annual passes, but they have to go on Saturday.
