  • [Question] if you HAD to get rid of one themed land in disneyland...

let's say that you were one of the high executives workin for TDA and there were plans to build a completely new themed land in disneyland, that could fit in any of the current themed lands (tomorrowland, adventureland, frontierland, new orleans square, critter country, or fantasyland). and the final decision of which land to demolish and build over was all on your shoulders. and you HAD to choose one lol you had no other option...
so if you were in that position, and the life of a beloved land was in your hands, which land would you get rid of?

note that i purposely left out toon town because that would just be taking the easy way out
o and also, dca is not an option either lol.

this is just a "what if" scenario just for fun to see what people will say i wouldnt ever want for this to happen, but if you really HAD to choose, what would your decision be?

EDIT: after reading responses i think we should now make this into: if you had to remove a land, which land would it be and what would you put in its place? (ie your own idea for a themed land)

Say splash mountain belongs to New Orleans Square. After that, DEMOLISH ALL OF CRITTER COUNTRY! Including pooh!

Tommorowland. To replace it, we will build a land based on the future.

Tear down Tomorrowland; they need to start that place over from scratch any-old-how. Besides that, it's the only land that could be demolished without me mourning the loss of a single attraction. And yes, that includes Space Mountain. I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't like it. It's not the most fun roller coaster around and it completely fails at making it feel like you're flying through space. Instead, it feels like someone stuck me and 27 disco balls inside a big black blender and turned it on.

To its credit, though, the inside queue's quite nice.

This whole thread is going to be filled with Tomorrowlands and Toontowns, which I agree to

ok well no one kill me, but i would say frontierland.

i know it's an original land, but all it really has is BTMRR and the ranch thing, and that's is hardly ever used.

maybe use it to expand adventureland a little

Are we talking knock down and rebuild, or "live without"?

Like Critter Country & Frontierland there only one really good attraction, but Thunder Mountain & Splash Mountain trump Roger Rabbit.

Get rid of Critter Country and the wrecking ball should START with Splash Mountain. If I want a pointless log ride I'll go to Knotts!

I'm still going with Toontown but reading the OP, Tomorrowland would be a very close 2nd.

I'd have to say Critter...no sorry, Pooh country. It's basically an eyesore now that Country Bears is gone. Considering though how close Splash Mountain is to NOS/Haunted Mansion it wouldn't be alongside the demolish-ment.
But if I had that chance, i'd be the one with the ball demolisher screaming maniacally while destroying all of it. (And causing some of the CM's wondering if it was a good idea to let me work the heavy machinery... )
I hate Winnie the pooh, can ya tell?

Wow I feel like I am playing whack-a-mole... I can't decide between Frontierland, Critter, Toontown, or Tomorrowland... it used to be that Disney adhered to theme so perfectly that the thought of taking out a land was met with a firestorm of critisim (ala New Orleans expansion or Bear Country addition). Now... well now most at WDI think the word "theme" is interchangeable with "tie-in". It hurts to say it but I could go with a rebuild of Toontown themed to something more then what I can watch on a Saturday morning. I can go with a rebuild of Frontierland that has more then a runaway train. I can go with a rebuild of Tomorrowland that actually resembles a future instead of a Saturday morning video game commercial. Or I can go with an expanded Critter Country. So... um... yeah I feel like I'm playing whack-a-mole.
