  • [Pictures] Disney flag at half staff

My family visited Disneyland today and noticed the Disney flag over the train station flying at half staff. Obviously out of respect for Roy Disney passing away today. We thought we'd share the pic with you all.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

I had to re-read your comment. I thought I read "Disney is so cheesy" and was about to go on a rant. Glad that I did mis-read it though

Anyways, it's nice to see that they lowered to half staff for today. I was really curious as to how his passing would affect the park and it looks like this thread answered my curiosity.

Glad you looked at it again. Disneyland is often cheesy, but things like this remind me they have a big heart and a lot of class.

Does anyone happen to know if they did anything special with Roy's statue in the MK?

The WDW boards are totally inactive right now.

Yah, did Walt Disney World do the same thing?

That's a statue of Roy O. Disney, Walt's brother. The Roy Disney who just passed away is Roy E. Disney, Walt's nephew (and Roy O. Disney's son).

Thanks for the pic. We too were wondering if the sad event was acknowledged in the Park somehow.

That's a really nice touch, I wouldn't have expected anything less.

I hope the other Disney resorts do the same.

According to Bob Iger's letter to Cast Members, the Disney flag will be at half mast for the rest of the week which is extremely classy on the part of the Company.

Is there any talk of a window for him? would a window be appropriate? I realize he did a lot for WDA as well as for the overall company (which in turn benefited the park)... I'm just curious if there are any plans for a permanent honor.

Thank you to the OP. Many of us were wondering if Disneyland would honor him.

I'm literally a born Disney fan! I was born at Providence St. Joseph Med Center right across the street from Disney Studios in Burbank. The same hospital where Walt died.

I wonder if they will place the traditional full page "Crying Mickey" ad in the LA Times and entertainment trade papers that they have done in the past for other Disney VIPS.

It's great of them to pay respect to Roy E. Disney, and the way in which they chose to do it is very classy and respectful. He will be missed.
