[Chat] MSEP Back on Main Street in 2010? Should Original Music return with it?

It's the rumor that appears every year, Disney's Electrical Parade will make its glorious return to Main Street as the Main Street Electrical Parade. Who knows if it will actually happen.

But should it, I would only want it back should its magnificent original soundtrack be restored to Main Street with it. To not do so in my honest opinion would be an insult to the show and the idea of returning it to its rightful home.

So what do you think? Should MSEP return to Disneyland, should it be restored to its magical original sound?

It would be awkward for Remember to play this summer and have the "correct" version of the music and then have the real parade go on with something different don't you think?

I actually don't prefer one version of the soundtrack over the other. I like them both for different reasons, so either would be fine for me. Quite honestly, I was hoping with this summer's "new music" that they would've incorporated an orchestra like they did with Dreamlights (whether they used the original or Tokyo music for the "electrical" portion would've been fine).

I don't have one particular favorite over the other either.

Any of the two they have now would be fine with me.

I'd really like to have the original music brought back. I honestly don't like the new version, it's missing something. This is my favorite parade that Disneyland has ever had and this past summer I watched it once and I actually left about half way through. It just didn't feel the same, it lost it's magic. I really hope that they do away with the new version of the song at some point in the future.

I like the new soundtrack. It actually gave me reason to see it this summer. (otherwise i would have skipped it altogether)

It's really only appropriate to return to the original music should it return to Disneyland.

However, I doubt we'll see it go to Disneyland since, with World of Color, California Adventure will have two nighttime entertainment offerings and Disneyland will have two nighttime entertainment offerings. I just wish they'd run the Electrical Parade more often.

Itd be cool to see it at Disneyland again, but Id actually prefer it to stay at DCA, it would give DCA 2 night time offerings with World of Color and DEP. DL already has fireworks and Fantasmic..................

I'm fine with the new music. Hardly different at all really. People act like they've never altered the parade before. The real question is will Dumbo and the lion from Bednobs return? Any removel of floats just to keep in under a certain time is ridiculous to me. The full version ran in Disneyland, so no good reason to keep them out.

As far as which park, DCA will be waaay too crowded with World of Color to keep the parade. Disneyland has had all three night time shows before and can accommodate it because they don't cross the same area. Any 90's kids like me will remember the parade ending right before fireworks, and and a 2nd show not long after the 2nd Fantasmic started. They can handle it, DCA can't. Especially not this opening season of WOC. The crowds are gonna horrible. I agree they need more nightlife in DCA, but it should go in Hollywood. That would be more accurate to the city. Even an evening Aladdin would help. Fantasyland Theatre used to run night shows of Pocahontas, as well as Hunchback in the Frontierland arena.

Also, we're forgetting they're most likely gonna have to run WOC at LEAST twice a night which mean's moving a lot people in and out. That change over is gonna take time. A parade to deal with on top of that would be obscene.

Absolutely not.

I understand that Disneyland should keep things from it's past but they should never keep things the same for the sake of the past. Very rarely do I consider something being old a reason for it not to change. Electrical Parade is no different.

Everything needs to be updated to keep up with the modern age. Otherwise it just gets old and wears away. I feel that the additions made to Disney's Electrical Parade were simply keeping the parade fresh.

Disney has done it right by not letting something stay the same for 15+ years with Electrical Parade. Fantasmic! is nearly the same show that it was when it debuted in 1992, which is outrageous. I would be outright frustrated if Disneyland were to bring back the old music for the sake of it being old.

I thought one of the reasons it may return to DL next year is because construction both backstage and onstage is going to really pick up at DCA. There's going to be a time where they simply can't put on a parade because of all the Cars Land construction, and my guess is they want to keep showing DEP, not shutter it back in a warehouse somewhere, hence moving it to DL to keep it on the schedule.

But truth be told, I would like them(disney) to make an two disc album, which contains the orignal Main Street Electrical Parade Music(and has every single float portion that debuted during it's run at DL) and the prevouis Disney's Electrical Parade Music(that sounded like DL's, except it was missing a few floats and it had talking in it.) on Disc one. On Disc two, it contains the current Disney's Electrical Parade Music(that sounds little like TDL's Dreamlights...) also, maybe as an added bonis, a remix of the parade and a orcastral version of the parade.

Disney has no reason to regress. They invested in the upgraded soundtrack, and it'll be with the show until a new version comes along.

Amen to that. IN addition, they should also include some rare cuts that were never heard at the Parks such as the loops heard in the 1978 Orange Bowl Half-Time Show, the Hercules track from the Hercules Electrical Parade and Christmas loops from Tokyo, Paris and WDW Magic Kingdom.
