Re: Favorite Thing At DCA?
I'd say that Tower of Terror is the best thing at DCA, but California Screamin is my favourite thing.
I almost hate myself for saying so, but it gets tedious sitting through TOT's pre-show again, and then waiting for what feels like an eternity in the basement.
'Screamin is just a simple, excellent coaster, that is pure fun from start to finish.
I feel dirty for favouring an off-the-shelf coaster over the richly-themed Tower of TerrorMy Micechat cruise trip report, Part 1:http://micechat.com/14795-disney-wonder/

Plus TOT is too short. But the theming is just stunning. A+ for that.

Re: Favorite Thing At DCA?
haha, i love that construction walls is one of the choices.
its california screamin for me, i would have to say its one of the best roller coasters ive ever been on. fix the eyesore screamin tubes and i dare say its perfect.
tower of terror is a really close second, fastpass is the only way to go. otherwise its just too long of a line usually, although it is worth it sometimes.

Re: Favorite Thing At DCA?
I voted other. The poll did say favorite "thing" right?
My favorite thing is the Hollywood Backlot street. I love waling down there day or night. The neon lights and the marquee and the never-ending facade. I love all of that immersive area. This is part of the reason I think CarsLand will do so well. I rewatched the movie and it didn't do anything for me. But that "homey" street with the neon lights...that will be awesome.
Favorite ride is also a toss-up between TOT and Screamin'.

Re: Favorite Thing At DCA?
hmm... my favorite "thing" in all of DCA is Grizzly Mountain and the Condor Flats area, that whole part of the park is really the only Disney area to me, although the warf is nice too. Tower of Terror is the only real Disney thrill ride in the park I think, although Grizzly and Soar'n are great, they lack a Disney storyline and the detail of TOT.

Re: Favorite Thing At DCA?
Golden Dreams would still be if it was around. My favorite attraction to ride over and over is California Screamin thought. Tower came in second!
Thematically, everything in DCA is a favorite to me except Paradise Pier and a bit of Hollywood.Friend walks into line of The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh-"Come on, Let's go see Country Bear- .......Oh."-August 1st 2010

Re: Favorite Thing At DCA?
I would have to say 'Free Tortillas' because I love the theming around the Wharf; from my first visit (right after this park opened) I was blown away by the textures and buildings - followed by extreme disappointment that there was no 'attraction' that I was being led to... (a Chinatown attraction? A Barbary Coast ride-through attraction? Something depicting California during the Gold Rush?); I felt as though I was following all the THIS WAY! signs into a cul-de-sac. It still is brilliant in design.
Flik's Fair; sure the kiddie attractions are cheap carnival knock-offs, but the theming is wonderful (although even this is a direct knock-off to the Disney MGM Studios' "Honey I Shrunk The Kids" play area from 20 years ago...); still, the theming is very immersive and engaging, and gave families with small ones something to do in DCA other than ride King Triton's Carousel and Jump the Jellyfish (which itself is a re-run from the Little Mermaid area of DisneySeas; did they just have an 'extra one' lying around?).
Soarin' Over California is stupendous; a unique experience, an amazing ride system, and a prime example of what Disney Imagineers are capable of...
... and I will miss Golden Dreams; it and Soarin' are examples of what California Adventure had going for it from Day One.
Tower of Terror and It's Tough To Be A Bug: while both are great attractions (and both are brilliantly themed, from start to finish), they are both west coast incarnations of identical attractions previously found / seen in other Disney Theme Parks..."I've got the heart of a child..." - I keep it in a box, next to my bed...
