I hope the keeper of these photos does not mind me sharing this treasure trove of great photos among other Disneyland fans.

    Take a look:

    From 1968:

stuff from the park: September 2008

A big thank you to this person ... where-ever they are!

Dear Peoplemover Fans, If you want to see a new attraction that at least mimics the 1967 Peoplemover in a future Tomorrowland remodel, you need to write to the powers-that-be, and let them know. If you don't - Then the next time Tomorrowland is remodeled, you will see a land barren of any "Peoplemover" type attraction.

Those look so cool! Tomorrowland looks so open in the 2nd picture!... Is that just an optical illusion? Why did Disney have to ruin this... :[

because times change and trends change the Disney Co in the 80s and 90s began rideing fads and marketing ploys..and today to a point they still do TommorowLand will never look like that in those pictures again...

I like those older photos. They remind me of a time when the purpose of DL was family entertainment, rather than profit.

P.S. They also remind me of a couple of rides that I dearly miss.

You'll notice from my sig file that this was the year of my first visit at the age of 12. I can verify that the park was just this beautiful, this clean and this magical. I'll never forget as long as I live the amazement that was mine on first stepping into the bold possible future that Tomorrowland offered.
It wasn't all about 'cool' rides, but a promise of a future world we could all experience in peace, brotherhood and equal opportunity for all.
What a nice dream for a Christamas Eve here in 2009.

Take a look at all the company logos from Disney's sponsors everywhere in Tomorrowland, much more than what you would see today. I think the best thing is that Monsanto (seed patents), General Electric (Merchants of Death), Pacific Bell (Communications monopoly), and Disney (Copyright monster) too all got where they are today by getting in bed with the government. Free market this is/was not.

I miss that Tomorrowland so much. The sleek, elegant Populuxe architecure, the motion everywhere, the glamour and excitement, especially at night, it was like the City of the Future but it was there, live and in person, already. So many great things are gone: Carousel of Progress, PeopleMover, Flight to the Moon, America the Beautiful, Rocket Jets, and especially Adventure thru Inner Space, probably the most captivating attraction in Disneyland's history. It almost broke my heart to see the big lighted Miniaturization Control sign again.

I don't know, I think I prefer Tomorrowland now in the way of aesthetics. It just looks very tacky/60s motel to me. Not futuristic at all.

Ahhh, but that is because you are looking at the photos from the eyes of 2009 about to be 2010. But back in the 60s, trust me, it WAS all very futuristic. It was AWESOME, with nothing like it anywhere.

I so miss the 60s Disneyland.
It's the REAL Disneyland that I remember as a kid.

why does that look more futuristic then it does now?

I think it's because that vision of the future never really came into being in "the real world." Here it is almost 2010, and back in the 1960s we thought by this year we'd all be flying around in our own little cars in the air, and we would be living like the Jetsons. It never happened, so that vision is still sometime in the future, if at all.
