I'm going to the Disneyland park since I haven't been there for a while. I'm going to be there all the first week o f January. Is this a bad idea? And who's going to be there?

Re: January 4-8, 2010 Good idea?
Actually, it's a good idea since typically thats the first week that most schools go back into session. In other words, it shouldn't be crowded.
Just some warnings though:
1. No Fantasmic!
2. No fireworks until the 8th.
3. The Rivers of America will begin the long refurb and will end in May.
4. Expect a lot of walls since January is typically one of the refurb months of the year.

Quite a bit will be closed the 1st four months this year.
No summer parade for DL's 55th
World of Color will premiere in DCA, but with it's limited capacity, and unchartered new viewing area, I'd avoid that area too.
Unless your dying to see Captain EO, when it arrives in February, this 55th year looks like a bust for the resort.Critter Country's a mess ev'r since the Country Bears were kicked out. Re: January 4-8, 2010 Good idea?
Have a good time at the resort (for me I'll be there in February). I've never gone in January but when we do go in the off season it's pretty great. You have light crowds up until 2 or 3 in the afternoon but the trade off is of course the ride refurbishments and the lack of Fantasmic and fireworks. But for the rides, last year all the big rides were open (the Matterhorn opened back up from refurbishment on our last day) and the wait times were fairly decent. If you look at the refurbishment / temporary closer schedule on Disney.com you can see which rides will be closed (I think Haunted Mansion and it's a small world will be closed due to the removal of their holiday overlays, but don't quote me I'm not 100% sure when they're taking them down) or you can checkout the Dateline Disney update. In any case good luck on your trip and have fun."It matters not how strait the gate how charged with Punishments the scroll I am the master of my fate I am the captain of my soul" -- W.E. Henley

Re: January 4-8, 2010 Good idea?
i was going to say it's not the worst idea, that's like just when all the christmas stuff is going down so all the rides with holiday stuff will be closed, but people should be going back to school/work so crowds wouldn't be all that badOriginally posted by JungleCruiseFanYou know what they say- The party don't start 'til Jordon walks in.Originally posted by penguinsoda

MANY Schools, including the largest school district in the area, LA Unified are on Vacation until January 11th.
And the BCS Championship Game at the Rose Bowl on January 7th.
The week of the 4th is going to be a lot busier than the weekdays of January 11th.Check out my Theme Park Photos at http://darkbeer.smugmug.com

That and some of the schools not going back until later might make it a little busy, but just get there real early and you will probably have most of the park to yourself, at least until later in the day.
