  • News Honey, We Have a Closing Date!

The Disney Blog has confirmed - It's official, if you didn't guess it already. HISTA closes the day after peak Christmas season ends (and the Xmas events themselves), January 4th.

The big question is: is HISTA really going to Yesterland? Well, usually Werner decides that (I'm hoping for an article, though), but do you think if Captain EO really does go only four or so months (doubtful), will the shrinking machine return, or is gone forever?

I think it very well could be gone forever, they might bring in another 3-D show after Captain EO. If I was a Disney exec I'd make Captain EO a seasonal rotation so as to boost park attendance in the offseason (giving the offseasoners something exclusive for people to look forward to and it might just boost attendance and sales during that time), and for the busier times of year either a new show entirely or another 3-D show from another park. I can't wait to see the Captain back in action on that big screen. Bring on February.

there is lots of time to think of ideas , give em time to crank out a few ideas and work on em so by the time 1 is done there's at least 2 options to use as back ups, so we can avoid the situation we are in now again i like this idea

HISTA has to be one of the most hated attractions to ever be installed at Disneyland. It was never popular, never drew crowds, and its based off of a movie that hasn't resonated with kids or adults in 20 YEARS! GOOD RIDDANCE!

Now let's go protest outside Innoventions! I've always wanted to be in a protest with picket signs! (Maybe even torches and pitch forks!) Who wants to join me?

Even though I'm kind of tired of HISTA, I totally want to try to get on the last show on the night of the 3rd. Who's with me, and when should we go? Right at closing?

I predict that HISTA will not return.

Even if EO runs its course and there is no replacement on the horizon, I think the building will stay dormant until Disney decides what to do with it.

The best time I ever had at HISTA was when I was a teenager, had very little sleep, and was VERY caffeinated (school field trip, no one slept much and everyone just stayed awake with energy drinks). Too bad I stopped drinking anything with caffeine.

But even still, Honey I Shrunk the Kids was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and I want to be there for HISTA's last show, just to say I was there. I honestly doubt it's coming back. I guess I should go there right at closing and hope it's still open.

Sunday is a lot of endings:

                                      - End of HISTA
                                      - End of Disney's Electrical Parade until summer
                                      - End of Christmas Fantasy until winter
                                      - End of Fantasmic until summer
                                      - End of Haunted Mansion Holiday until winter
                                      - End of Tiana's Showboat Jubilee
                                      - End of Small World Holiday until winter
                                      - End of Believe... In Holiday Magic until winter
                                      - End of Corn Dog wagon until summer
                                      - End of Tomorrowland Terrace until summer

It's also the first day SoCal AP's are unblocked, and the last day before school resumes. It's going to be HELL.

Yeah, I'll be arriving the night of the 2nd, so I'll be cramming A LOT of stuff in this trip. Last time I went to the park they were still working on the new Tom Sawyer's Island so I'll have to do that. Now that my plans changed and I'll be there Saturday night, I'm hoping to see both the fireworks and Electrical Parade. I'm taking the holiday time tour so that should cover the Christmas parade, Haunted Mansion, and Small World (last time I went was before they added America and Disney characters so that will be interesting). I want to see Tiana's Showboat Jubilee and do the other stuff that requires the river to not be drained. And Billy Hill. And now I want to try to catch the last HISTA show Sunday night. I'm going to be one tired, busy woman on Sunday.

So do you think it's going to be crazy busy on Sunday and then die out the rest of the week?
