i've only seen it come out when there's a show featuring merlin. Merlin does a presentation and asks specific people to come a pull the sword. At the end one child comes and pulls the sword out of the stone. Cool moment...

All the other kids should get something for loosening it up.

It only comes out when they have the Sword in the Stone show with Merlin.

Yeah we've never caught that, it would have been cool when we were there for my nephew, he worked on that sword for about 20 minutes before giving up, he kept walking away and then going back, it was so funny!!

            The sword is remote controlled.

The Merlin show is cute. He usually picks a strong-looking guy first and has him try. Then a small child who does pull the sword.

Catch the show next time you are there!

Basically, that's what it is! Talk about ruining the magic- I sent my husband over to ask when the next show would be, and the CM they would be hitting the garage clicker in about 20 minutes...or whatever the time frame was, I can't remember now.

Do they still do the Merlin show?? When I was there this summer I didn't see it listed on the schedule. But when I was there in 1999, I saw it and it was awesome! I read the S&tS with my 2nd graders and wish I could take a big field trip to Disneyland to have them take a pull on it!

That I know there is a Red & green light in a window.
One light is the Sword coming up and we have King or Queen for a Day.
Merlin Have to wait for the light before letting the kid pull on the sword

Yes, the sword is remote controlled by someone, so don't piss that cast member off.

                            Kidding.

The sword is held there by a strong magnet and it only can come out if the remote activates it.

I heard that Disney was "supposely" bring back Merlin and the Sword In The Stone Ceremony, but THAT didn't happen.
