  • [Question] Indiana Jones Halftime Show 1995

I feel like I've taken crazy pills because no one remembers the Superbowl Halftime Show of 1995. It was Indiana Jones themed that Disney did to promote the opening of the ride at Disneyland. Does anyone remember it? Even better anyone have a video of it? I've been searching the internet and I can't find any videos of it. HELP!!!

If memory serves, the aformentioned show of was one of the reasons Harrison Ford wanted nothing to do with promoting the ride.
"The old man's gonna knock on the sky. Listen to the sound."

    AP'er since 2004. Yup.....I'm one of THEM.

I tried looking it up, it seems there is video of every half time show since 1990 except for the 1995 halftime show, could it be a Disney conspiracy?
      Yaye!

          From wikipedia:

          XXIX 1995

          Joe Robbie Stadium, Miami

          Disney

Indiana Jones & Marion Ravenwood, Teddy Pendegrass, Tony Bennett, Arturo Sandoval, Miami Sound Machine

Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye
          Can't find video. Sorry.

Another description, but the only one with no video. Fascinating.

To promote their new Indiana Jones-themed ride at Disneyland, Disney decided to put on a halftime show with a detailed plot. Allow me to describe it:

The Super Bowl trophy has been stolen and taken to the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. The temple is guarded by Patti LaBelle, who sings “Release Yourself.” Arriving on the scene via parachute is Indiana Jones (not played by Harrison Ford) and Marion Ravenwood (not played by Karen Allen), who venture to Club Disneyland fighting bad guys, while Tony Bennett and the Miami Sound Machine entertain the club’s patrons. Eventually, the duo make it to the Temple, and without looking into the aforementioned Forbidden Eye, reclaim the Super Bowl trophy for the winner of the Big Game. Then Patti LaBelle sings “New Attitude,” followed by a duet with Tony Bennett on The Lion King’s “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?”

            Now that’s entertainment.

After that description it is no wonder there is no video of it around. I would sweep that under the rug as well! But it can't beat the Star Wars Christmas Special!)

Yeah, but there's bound to be an illicit/pirated copy around somewhere. Video cameras existed in 1995, right? The thing is, it doesn't come up on YouTube at all.

maybe there is no such thing as 1995 and we're all living in a world known as the Matrix...

or perhaps Disney's legal team had the thing ripped off and is preventing it from being shared for any purpose...

Ok so glad I'm not crazy. Wish we could find a video of it. I remember loving it, but I was 10 at the time and couldn't wait for the ride to open. Not surprised if Disney covered it up, seems like it wasn't preceived very well at the time. An article in the New York Times tried to play it off as a bad dream. lol

I was 27 at the time. Prior to then, halftime shows were pretty cheesy. This one was the cheesiest of them all. I remember hating it.

I at least wish the Superbowl would go back to doing some kind of big show. I'm tired of the geriatric rock band of the year.
