I'm sure many of you saw today's In the Parks where Dustysage reported of Disney likely creating a Domestic Parks AP in the near future. What do you think about this? Do you like the idea? What impact if any will this have on DLR? It seems to be a part of the overall DVC strategy and Dusty mentioned it would be targeted at DVC members. How do you think the DVC will affect the future of DLR?

The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.

I have absolutely no interest in going to WDW. I have a slight interest in epcot, but not enough to fly across the country to do it...so no interest for me. Heck, I may not even be renewing my current pass.

I really like the idea as I really love both area's I visit DL 3 times to every 1 at WDW I just wish the price was not so high.

I think it's a pretty cool idea, but I would not buy one. First, it's too expensive for me and two, I don't go to WDW anywhere near enough to have use for it. I've been once, and that was years ago.

I have always wondered why it wasn't that way from the start. However, the price quoted is way over my budget. How many days would one have to visit the parks to justify $800.

I like it. We are DVC members and own points at both VGC and BLT. We currently have an AP at DLR, and it would sure make things a little more inexpensive going back to Florida if we had an AP that covered both coasts.

As far as DVC affecting DLR, if they continue to expand DVC in Anaheim, and with the DCL coming to the west coast on a more permanment basis, I think it will have a positive impact on the cash flow and therefore the improvements being done in California. The local, who (no insult intended) sometime come across as owning the park, may not like it though.

I'd get one if I planned to visit WDW that year.

I think the differential between the single-resort AP and the national AP is too high. Therefore, it would really only be worth the price if you were planning to do repeat-visits at each park. Really, that's because the APs for just a single park are probably significantly under-priced (leading to crowds...). You really only have to go to DL about 8 days to break even on a premium AP. After all, season tickets to the opera (with decent seats) will run you about $900; season tickets at a ski resort range from $500-800.

I would buy it depending on price point, of course. We are DVC members and with MC events in DL and flying just a short 2 hours to Florida for weekends, it would come in very handy, but why buy it when I would conceivably buy the 2 APs for each for less?

Yeah, my vote right now is maybe (not an option on the poll). I would buy it depending on the details.

I might, it depends on the details. I would also be interested in a all parks pass. Not just US, based parks, but all of them.

$800 is too high. The right price point would be around $600 IMO.

                            Re: Domestic Parks AP

Had to come out of lurkdom to add my two cents. This will be great for those who already have a DW AP ($619) and want to visit DLR. However, there is no way to justify that cost for those close to DLR who would only be making one or even two trips a year to DW.

$500 would be breaking point for me - if it hit that then I might find myself going to DW once a year in addition to my DLR trips.

I just hope they don't start jacking up the DL AP rate - two price increases in six months is a bit much already.

Fishy and I are currently Annual Passholders at both DLR and WDW because we are also DVC members. That's a huge annual expense for us just to then spend nearly all the money we make on the Mouse. Any pass which makes it just a little more convenient and a little cheaper for us is welcome news.
