I'm definitely gonna miss this ride. Not because of the thrill it gave or the views it offered, but because its gonna be one more emotional tie to DCA 1.0 gone. I think it's great that we're moving ahead toward the future, but those who are like me will understand what I'm talking about.

If you go to the DLR with a smoker you would know that there is no such thing as a nice smoking spot. ( a possible exception is the the one by the ROA)

Whining that this "park" will become one just shows today's view that smokers are these rude criminals that just do whatever they please.

Sorry... for some reason lately these "Smokers are the Devil" tidbits have been cropping up everywhere lately.


More on topic: I only have ridden it once and I liked it. Nothing special since obviously didn't bother to go again.


Question: I was told ( by a friend) that the ride was being shot up rather then being dropped (like TOT and Supreme Scream), is this true?

Even if this does become a smoking area, i doubt it will be nice. If it is nice , then it will only be temporary

Yep. Maliboomer is an example of S&S Power's 'Space Shot' ride design. It shoots the car up the shaft using compressed air.

Supreme Scream is an example of the 'Turbo Drop' ride design, where the cars are propelled gently to the top and then released, using air pressure to actually freefall beyond the force of natural acceleration.

Tower of Terror is none of these. I don't know exactly what, but it's not built by S&S, whatever it is.

Interesting tidbit on Supreme Scream...i always compare it to TOT, but now that I think of it the sensations I have felt on the two have been a little different (other than the tummy feeling)

As someone earlier said, with only one tower running, horrible capacity, and very short lines, no one even really rides the maliboomer. The maliboomer is one of those rides I just pass on the way out of the pier and see there is no line whatsoever so decide to ride it.

I do like the idea of making it a triple parachute tower like in the model. If you see it, you'll notice it doesn't even go much higher than the helix. Plus a parachute drop attraction would have a better capacity, would look nice, complimenting the Zepher and POM, and it could replace Jumping Jellyfish which I feel has no place in its current location which could be better utilized as a park.

My kids really loved this ride, but they'll have to make do with the new attractions going in. In an odd sort of way, I will really miss this skyline as I've become so accustomed to it over the years:




I've never really been a huge fan of Paradise Pier as I knew Walt's attitude toward seaside amusement parks and it was full of concrete and off the shelf rides, etc, etc, but during the evening hours, that area of the park could look quite beautiful.


So....not sure yet if it's good riddance from me. But you can bet I'll be taking quite a few more shots of the pier this Summer before it disappears forever.
