  • [Question] Disneyland Map on the locker room wall

the last time I was at Disneyland I went into the guest locker room off of Main Street and saw this map on the wall.

sorry about the refection. I'm not tall enough to get the shot without the lights showing.

so here is the question, does anyone know the background of this map?

I asked a few cast members and as far as I have been able to get it wasn't a souvenir map, it is not available at the Disney Art kiosks, it might have been a promtional or event gift.

It looks like the standard park map to me. It's fairly recent too because the subs are in it.

It is! They just made the park map bigger, added the border and removed the pirates lair flag on the island.

I hope a new souvenir map comes out.

Re: Disneyland Map on the locker room wall

DL occasionally has a wall map available for purchase, sometime folded, sometime rolled up. During the 50th, they did have a framed map available, too.

The maps available to the general public have a character boarder (with more smaller character faces around the ENTIRE border).

To place a time frame on this map, I don't see the subs on the map either. Also, Small World is painted white, all of Tomorrowland has the '98 colors, except Space Mt, which is white, so that leads me to believe it was done around 2004 or 2005, in time for the 50th.

I did see a folded park map at DL as recently as last summer, but not sure if they are still available. However I do wonder if they are doing a new DL Map for the 55th?!?!?!?!?

I've got two versions of the wall maps, a 50th and one other from 2000-2003 time frame. I've also seen several other older maps. all the ones I have seen have 4 sided borders with smaller characters and additional texts or images in the lower corners. I don't recall ever seeing this one being sold as a souvenir wall map (of course it could have been sold during one of the years that I didn't make it to the park).

I'm hoping there is someone out there that could say with certainty what the story is behind this map.

I've got a map around here somewhere that was made showing the Haunted Mansion as a future attraction.

They did sell a map for the 40th, 45th, one after the 45th, none of those had full color sketches of the charactesr (they were only black and white sketches) on the border. The 50th map sold in DL did have full color characters (but with smaller face drawings, it also had a "50th" castle logo, in the lower right portion of the map. )

I bought a map similar to that & the ones that others here are talking about in the World of Disney store in DTD. It was like 5 bucks (imagine that!) and pretty darn big when its unfolded. It is super detailed and has the character border all around it. Very good find, and super cheap.

I think the real question is, why is Aurora in black? lol

Re: Disneyland Map on the locker room wall

I have alot of the Character/Fun maps, DL: 1st one is from before Space Mt opened (future attraction), 2nd is from the early 80s, has America sings, no Splash Mt yet, next is my brother's which has Splash Mt on it, no America Sings, no Toontown, no F!, next up is mine from the 40th anniversary which includes Toontown, Indy, Captain EO, Fantasmic!, hen we got one during the 50th anniversary which had the subs as a future attraction, BLAB, HISAT, and Innoventions. I also have one of DCA from opening year. None of the maps I have use the land color schemes from the map above, which is the same as the ones handed out at the main gate
                    Trips coming up:

                    May 22-26th
                    July 13th-18th
                    November 19th-25th
