  • [Question] What's next for the Hollywood Backlot?

So I've been wondering recently, does Disney have anything else planned for the Hollywood Backlot area? I would love to see the Hyperion be entirely enclosed with a lobby and two different attractions to take up Hollywood and Dine and Millionaire. Are there any plans during the 1 billion makeover, or is this perhaps for an even later time?

I think something is planned for HPB in Phase 2 if Phase 1 goes well.

What exactly do they have planned for Phase 2?

Also, Im sure or atleast I hope Phase 1 will do well with WOC, TLM and Cars land. Plus BVS. If It does, let the future Hollywoodland get an entire make over.

I do remember reading somewhere that Disney does plan on enclosing the Hyperion Theatre. (It may have been one of Al's updates posted a long time ago.)

Re: What's next for the Hollywood Backlot?

Well, anything about Phase 2 is heresay at this point. Nothing has been official. There's been a lot of announcements in the last few years that have never come true.. which is why they were never publicly announced to begin with.

First thing's first: Red Car and Hollywood Land name change. That stuff is placed on construction walls already so we can all expect that to happen for sure.

Toy Story Musical I guess is coming in to replace Aladdin.

Aaaand that really is it until further notice.

It's been mentioned in Al's update and also seen in the current Blue Sky Cellar video. But nothing has been officially announced and can change at any time.

Is there concept art of that or a video of it in it?

If not oh well. I thing these things are needed in a Phase 2.

                1. HL fixture
                2. Bugsland Removal. Make it either a HollywoodLand expansion or BVS expansion.
                3. Condor Flats expansion if Possible. Only one ride and gets quite boring.
                4. Same with Grizzly Peak Area
                5. Fix the Monsters inc area. Quite dead.

Wel, I think what it needs, amongst other things, is a good dining spot...

Now I know a lot of people are not for putting carbon copies in the different parks....but the Sci-Fi Dine-In from Disney-MGM Studios would be an excellent addition....

And I like Monsters, Inc., but it needs to go...someone PLEASE explain to me how it fits in theme? And if Disney actualy does plan on putting in the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor after Captain EO's run its course (whenever that may be), why have a Monsters, Inc. ride in both parks? and all Monsters, Inc. is is a basic dark ride anyway.
                  My mind won't rest
                  and I don't sleep
                  Not even in my dreams...

It doesn't fit in the theme.

I do believe I heard that Disney was planning to do something more with the Grizzly River Rapids, such as add audio animatronics.

A few years ago, Blue Sky Disney did hint that they wanted to give the Grizzly Peak a new look, by making it more of a Yosemite look, as well as replace the Redwood Creek area with a new E-Ticket attraction sometime after the opening of CarsLand. I'll probably get blasted for this, but I haven't heard anymore since then.

I've always wondered about Phase 2. I believe it will happen but logically, does it make sense?

                        1) Phase 1 does well and brings DCA's guest count up to par with DLR. Would they really approve another big budget if things are going well?

                        2) Phase 1 fails. Would they approve a big budget in the hopes it will succeed where Phase 1 didn't?

In other words, in both cases, I wonder if they'd really want to spend the money.

I think if Iger wants to separate himself from Eisner as much as possible, he'll do what he can to allow DCA to continue in its path. We all know that adding a red car isn't going to cut it and there's plenty of empty unused buildings still.

As far as I am concerned, nothing is cutting it for DCA. It was a very poorly thoughout park, and Iger's association with Eisner is still there.

Errr... I guess I'll just repeat what I said just above?
