  • [Question] Why No Out Of State Annual Pass Monthly Payment Options?

My apologies if this has been answered previously, I searched for it but to no avail. Does anyone know the reason why Disneyland doesn't offer the monthly payment option to out-of-state visitors?

I mean, from a logical sense, if I live out of state, I will visit the park far fewer times than a CA state resident. It would seem to me, that you would sell many more annual passes but the redemption rate would be very low if you opened the monthly pay option to all.

Hence, more money in your pocket.

If anyone knows the reason I would appeciate it!

That is wierd unless for some leagal reason it would be difficult for them to collect since the bam account it is attached to is in a different state? maybe? I ain't the sharpest tool in he shed so I am sure someone here has the answer but I am guessing it is something like that!

I agree that Disney should focus on affordability for out-of-state guests. However, I've always wondered why the payment plan wasn't designed to extend throughout the state itself.

I'd definitely have an AP if I could get the same deal SoCal residents do (honestly, who wouldn't).

What I believe to be more odd is that the monthly payments are for Southern California residents only. So if you're in Northern California you're out of luck. I'm like, its the same state for petes sake!

Yeah, it must go hand in hand with all the SoCal discounts offered ONLY to SoCal residents. I don't understand how they can legally charge different rates to people, just because of where they live.

It is illegal? Thankfully. The last thing the overburdened resort needs is yet another influx of APers paying literally pennies on the dollar to visit.

P.S.: I visited recently, and the park was pretty crowded even on a Monday and Tuesday when school was still in session. Gimme a break. And I paid dollars to be there, lots of 'em, not pennies.

I have a theory... I think it's because you can't come as often.

That might sound odd, but if you think about it logically it can make sense. Because locals are more likely to come, Disney has more chances to make sure you're all paid up. Someone out of state could plan on spending 5 days in the park then never return. Disney has no real way to force you to pay if you never come back.

This 5 day visitor could spend $72 to get all five days otherwise. (monthly payments require only full entrance payment up front.) compare that to $249 as the regular price for a 5 day park hopper.
