  • [Question] Sword in the Stone Ceremony???

I go to the DLR often, but am about to plan a trip with one of my young (7 yrs old) nephews. He saw a picture of me doing the Sword in the Stone ceremony with Merlin when I was his age (15 yrs ago!) and thought it would be cool to do it as well. Do they still offer this classic ceremony? or has it died off? Any info is greatly appreciated as I have not seen it recently and it is not listed anywhere!

    Thanks!

They have since cut the show unfortunately. Sad, I was also one of the lucky kids to be "King for a Day". They should bring it back.

PlEase read Al's thread "declining by degrees". This is just one of the many poor decisions the park management has made. Sadly The show has ben canceled and the actors laid off.

ORWEN: This is something else I'll never forgive Disney Management for doing away with! It's so depressing when you think about how cruel it is for a major money making company--like Disney--to go and lay off an old man who's given the best years of his life to making magic for Disneyland, only to end up having to push a shopping cart down the mean streets of Los Angeles!!

I always thought that ceremony was so charming and added to the character of Fantasyland.

Why would they even do that? I mean, what's the point of having the Sword in the Stone there now?

I think it's been cancelled for about a year or two. Same thing with the Brother Bear Totem Ceremony at DCA. That show has also not played for about a year or two. On the bright side, they did bring back the Princess Coronation Ceremony in Fantasyland. But for how long, who knows...

HKDLFAN posted photos of the Merlin ceremony still being done at Hong Kong Disneyland in April, though the photos are no longer available.
