  • [Fun] Disneyland: Through Lens of Home-Video

Believe it or not, the concept of 'home video' has been around since the 1920s with 16mm film. By the 1950s rolled around, those who had 8mm were considered lucky or rich at a time when a house hold only had one television. By the 80s, with VHS cam-corders on hand to anybody to todays HD-DVD video cameras, many generations have captured Disneyland throughout history.

Thought it would be fun to look back on how not only Disneyland but as people changed around Disneyland through the lens of a camera. Keep in my mind, these aren't my personal home videos but I'm sure (depending on your age) we've all captured the same thing too. Plus, make note that some don't have sound (especially home-videos of the 50s to the early 80s), since most early home-videos didn't have audio but maybe some might, thanks to the authors personal editing, etc.

Here's collection of home-videos of Disneyland during the 1950s.

Here's a small collection home-videos of Disneyland during the 2000s, being it's 2010, I believe nothing major has really changed. With an exception of some political correctness for Pirates, parade/firework changes, couple of ride closures and new color scheme for Tomorrowland. With that in mind, enjoy some 50th Anniversary home-videos =)

All of these clips are great. It's nice to see that many people wanted to put their own personal memories of Disneyland on Youtube. I love the one of Michael Jackson just walking by.

Unfortunately, the only home video of me at Disneyland is somewhere in my garage, probably eaten by moths.

      Keep them coming.

Found this nice ride through from 1985 of the Skyway (closed 1994)...

My favorite part of course was going through the Matterhorn and finding the Abominable Snowman, which this camera person happen to caught on camera.

I love the stuff from the 80s. My first trip was in 1985, I was 5. Those brought back some old dusty memories! Thank you so much!
