when i heard they were going to be taking out the waterfalls at the disneyland hotel i knew i had to dedicate part of a disneyland trip to get some footage of the falls before it was too late. its just a short film but i hope you all enjoy it. (oh and sorry for the shaky camera at times haha i tried to hold it as steady as i could while i walked but its nearly impossible with a flip lol)

Wow.. That's the first time Ive seen those falls in detail. It will be sad to see those go. But, when I see the area that it's in.
I think it would be great to have it moved to the foresty area inside the Grand Californian. The scenery would match perfectly there. I'm sure they would never do it, but it would be pretty dang cool if they did.

              Thanks for the video ...

But I'm not lamenting the loss of the falls just yet.

I'm not under-estimating the letter writing campaign. The chances are small ... but I'm not saying good-bye just yet.

I do hope many people wrote to those 3 execs I've mentioned. Or perhaps someone else some may have known that were better choices.

If too few spoke up ......

say good-bye to the Bonita Tower Waterfalls.

That IS the $64,000 Question we are all still trying to figure out.

                      My hunch - Designer Bias.

They simply want to get rid of it / Can't be bothered / Don't want to take the time to re-imagineer it to fit their new plans.

According to a OC Register online article and the Disney Park Blogs their reasoning is - "It takes up too much power and water."

                      Translation: "We don't value it."

How do you say "Uses too much water and electricity" ... when you are an entertainment company that utilizes HEAPS of power and water to entertain your guests, every day?

That's just one of the weirdest lines to ever come out of any execs mouth within the Walt Disney Co.

Thanks so much for posting the great vid. I've never seen it in person and I really had no idea how detailed and involved it was.

BTW Fantasnick ... did you by any chance shoot footage of the falls at night?

Another "cliff note" .. to the many cliff notes in our 42 page 'saga' about the falls.

I always wanted a gif image of Disney's plans grafted over a current satellite image so people can see for themselves what the total transformation changes .. and how IT APPEARS Disney originally intended to leave the falls and koi ponds in place ... as it barely touches their planned changes to the north and west of the falls.

                          Here you go.......

                            ^ That's an awesome picture.

Well, before it changes that is. Haha

It looks like they are keeping the back wall that used to be a part of the Fantasy Waters stage.

But in my opinion... That's too much grass. It's like 3 times the amount of grass they currently have. Even with what they have, I never see a single person on it.

I say, scratch the new pool idea and let guest swim in the falls after a mild refurbishment to prep them for swimming. Haha

J/k... I don't want people swimming in the falls. Just keep em'.

Thanks for the video. I can't believe they want to replace that beautiful area with grass. Do guests who travel thousands of miles, and pay hundreds of dollars to stay there, want to see grass?

Do they really want to revert to the 1960s version of Orange County, where every house had a big flat grass area? Are they going to include a hula hoop, frisbee and Weber barbecue?

Does the park management realize how much water it takes to keep grass green in southern California? And that may be a factor as to why there is very little grass in Disneyland? Not to mention the weekly maintenance required to keep grass looking at its best?
