Skyway: The Return?

the Skyway was an eyesore and it doesn't really match the theme of tomorrowland or fantasyland, they do need to find something to do with the space but the Skyway should never come back

There are so many other things that need attention before a Skyway returns!! With the return of MASSIVE attendances for the 50th, I have to say I am a little concerned for how Park Operations will manage a relative diminished line up of "Space Filling" rides. Thankfully Buzz has a huge capacity & Innoventions.. well, need I say more

Even so, I would love to See Skyway return but personally I can't see it happening.

It should return just as it left. I never saw the logic of removing it. It was simply a part of the Disneyland experience.

It was an eyesore. They also would have to deal with making it accessible.

That said, I do think that there needs to be something airborne in the park. But those ugly Skyway buckets are definitely not that thing.

Give'em an acceptable theme (Marry Poppins, Pooh on a blustery day/li'l black raincloud, something) and place them where transportation is needed (like from north end of critter country to west end of toontown, or to connect DCA to DL)

How can D/L re-open the skyway when they've sold a lot of the buckets on their eBay site? Besides, most everything has been built over, made in inaccessible or in some manner changed to make it impractical to bring it back - Matterhorn pass through is built-up, pylon anchor points are built over, etc......

Nice idea, but the chances of it coming back are about as good as the Midget Autopia coming back....

its not impossible, but for budget minded Disney, not really practical on their little ledger books.

However skyway did fill a need in its day and still could; having some way to get around the dashed blankety blank parade routes and get to the other side of the park without feeling you are battling a herd of wild hippos. Skway was a great way to do that, and it was a wonderful scenic ride, it had the added bonus that many people wanted to ride it during fireworks so it lessened congestion in the hub during fireworks shows.

I remember the first time I rode. Scared the crap outta me! I don't know if Disney should bring it back though. We live in an age where people do stupid things for stupid reasons, and I think someone might end up dying again. Disney definitely doesn't need anymore negative publicity after Big Thunder Mountain and the Columbia incident. I'd rather see the peoplemover come back rather than skyway.

And besides, where are all the little cats that live in the building going to go?

Okay, here is what I heard from an insider: The skyway will be returning to Disneyland, but not in the way you would expect. It will connect the enormous parking garage with the main entrance, kind of acting like a tram. The cost is pretty high due to the amount of cable and struts needed, but by the way it was being explained to me, the money factor was not much of an issue.

it would be great to see it back but they would have to deal with the attempted/completed suicide problem. My dad lives in anaheim and would go every night as a kid when the skyway was first put in and could remember countless times when this was an issue..... he even said he saw someone jump! I think this was one of the influencing factors that shut it down in the first place, suicides or "accidents" dont look to good for the park

I would very much love for them to return. It helped add motion to TL. I am reminded of a quote by a narrator in one of the Disneyland films, "Whatever worked became the code. Whatever didn't was thrown away, replaced by a better idea." Well....either we're still waiting for a better idea, or it needs to be put back. As far as people saying it was an eyesore, I think it just depends on your opinion. I think many more of us welcomed the sight of the Skyway.

As an accounting major (who would love to someday work at TDA), I understand it would be very costly. But I think the rule for Disneyland should be different; quality generates quantity. Pour in the money for a new Skyway, and while it alone will not justify the cost, the overall guest expierence will be further enhanced, thus an increase in guest return.

No one ever died on the skyway. The closest was a guy who jumped out into a tree and survived (broke his arm, I believe). It seemed his goal was to do exactly that and sue Disney. He never saw a dime.
