Sure am glad that the Disneyland Resort id doing something with one of it's sci-fi brands to compete with Universal's soon to come Transformers attraction. I think that this entertainment based attraction center is a harbinger that we can look forward to a Tron ride in the resort's future.

At present, I am heavily anticipating Flynn's Arcade as it will feature a brand new Tron film, props from the boxoffice feature and from Comic-Con. it should have electronic games and more.

After Persia and Apprentice underperformed, it's nice to see that Disney is still supporting their other big live action film this year. I know a lot of people wanted to see Flynn's in Tomorrowland, but a temporary version is a safer bet until they can see the response to the film. If it's a hit, I'm sure they can just move a lot of the theming over to the other park once ElecTRONica ends.

Tomorrowland and a new Tron ride will go together like apple pie and ice cream. This, I believe, will be a long rumored fast vhicle based ride that will incorporate a track system completely different than that of Test Track/Radiater Springs Racers. Part of it would exist inside the current grounds, and part outside the berm.

and just a bit more video to show the difference between Flynn's in 2009, and what Disney did for the opening night of Flynn's at Comic Con in 2010

Remember the old Tron Tunnel used in the PeopleMover? It's still there, but left to dust. I think they might revive it soon.

It'd be cool, but it's probably nothing more than just a thought until Disney is able to gauge the success of the new Tron movie via box office ticket sales and positive vs. negative reviews of the movie. If it's terrible and underperforms at the box office, it'll never happen. Not saying that's going to happen though...

I've been hoping for this for quite some time!!! One of the posts mentioned that a "rumored" Tron attraction would utilise a new track technology. Would that be able to be incorporated on the existing People mover track or would that have to be leveled?

I have been a proponent for the return of the people mover. Not so much for the original attraction to return but a newly reimagined ride incorporating a tomorrowland theme. The greatest part of the original people mover and the subsequent and short lived Roket rods, was that it was a great tour of the Tomorrowland area. So, I'd still love to see the new attacction take advantage of the track already in place if the new ride would support it!!

I think even if the movie underperforms, you could still manage an attraction just by basing it more on the original movie, which has a pretty sizable cult following anymore. The only danger you run into is people thinking more of the recent failure rather than the classic Tron.

I hope that disney re-incorporates the Tron tunnel into what ever new Tron ride that it will likely plan...if they are not on it already.

Thank you so much for this vedio of the incredible 2010 opening night. The arcade is much more tech slick and dramatic. The vibe for the 2011 Flynn's should be redefine the word "amazing!"

Well then, let's hope that the coming film is a major sensational hit.

The rumored Tron attraction that I was reffering to would not involve the people mover tracks. This attraction would involve a track system and course of it;s own. Part of the rumore that it would take place underground (at least in part). For all I know, it might take place below ground, above ground, and at ground level. Also, the rumor has it located within the present Tomorrowland boarders and beyond the berm.

As for the former PM/Rocket rod tracks, they will probably have to be torn out and reconstructed...unfortunately. Disney has found out that cutting corners by using old tracks for new rides is usually a big opperational nightmare and expense.

Were would this be built in Tomorrowland that they could build outside the berm? Seems like that'd require destroying what little backstage they have back there. Tomorrowland's pretty pressed against the road as is.

Fear not my friend. This has been discussed before. WDI can do anything it sets it's mind too...given the right budget. There is plenty of room on the other side of the berm...even if the attraction has to go around or underneith the diaramas...and/or beneath the road. disney will make it work even if buildings have to be moved backstage or acrross the street (after purchasing the property of course. Disney has always found a way to expand (like a river cutting a course) when it puts it's mind to the task.

I'm excited for this. I don't see any problem with Flynn's arcade being in the old Millionaire Building (temporarily). Better there than Tomorrowland. I would really love if they went all out on theme, (played 80's music, with classic arcade games) similar to Comic Con's arcade. We need to remember Flynn's arcade is abandoned in 2010, so there wouldn't be any modern arcade games.
