  • [Question] Redwood Creek Challenge Trail: Wasted space?

Well I really cant have an opinion on this never having been but I'm wondering (seeing where this lies in google maps in comparison to other lands) if Redwood Creek Challenge Trail seems like wasted space in a horribly cramped park that needs what space it can to grow. The pathways and the like seem interesting and I understand the need for a kids playground area but I feel that's a lot of room they're using for something that seems little to me.

So what are the thoughts of the people who have been there. Do you think that RCCT serves its purpose well or should it be taken out or should it be realtered, or relocated to another area of the park?

It could defintely be smaller or reworked in a more efficient way.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.

      Agree completely.

I was also very disappointed that I was over the height requirement for the tires. Oh well.

My kids love it! We can easily spend an hour or so there. As they get older it is "less fun" for them. But the little ones love it. Once they reach about 11 or 12 my daughter started to feel as if she out grew it. But she loved it when she was younger.

EDIT: It is great for an area for little kids to have a place to get out of the stroller and run around in.

          Torn;

On the one hand back in 04' my son and my nephews had more fun here than anyplace else at the lesser park.

But it's not exactly a place where "kids of all ages" can really have fun together......

My verdict: Keep it until the space is needed for something truly awesome....don't remove it for the sake of removing it, or for some lame attraction or an even lamer store.

It's not really the trail that's a problem. It's the Grand Californian that's straddling DCA's underdeveloped berm. Just think of the attractions that could've been developed for the same footprint that the hotel is taking up. It may have seemed like a great idea at first, having a hotel within the park, but, no one really thought about the future expansions back in the 90s when the park was being developed.

It would've been great to have another mountain attraction on the footprint of the Grand Californian. A mountain themed to Mt. Shasta maybe?

I'm pretty sure it's just a placeholder for whatever else they eventually feel like installing over in the Grizzly area. It certainly feels up a slot in the parks roaster and keeps things feeling a bit more built out. If they replace it then that will be space in the park I actually visit .

oh wow, i LOVE Redwood Creek Challenge Trail! It's a lot of fun for adults, too, to climb and run all over. I am saddened by the fact I can't ride the tires either )
                Good morning, son
                In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
                It was pain
                Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I agree. My kids love it and can spend hours there (if we let them).
It is great if you can get there first thing because the cm's will usually let the kids go over an over on the tires.

Most kids that run through there have a really good time. I'm thinking it's like Disneyland's Tom Sawyer's island. Great place to let the youngins' tire themselves out.

Yes -- please bring back The Country Bear Jamboree (or a Country Bear ride thru) in that space.

OR retheme it to Brownstone National Park with Ranger Woodlore and Humphrey (and friends) in attendance.

When I was there on Aug. 1st waitting in line to see Kenia and Koda I saw alot of kids running and have a good time there. I don't think anything needs to be done to that place. I may not like camping do to what happen to me when I was little and my church had a outting in the woods but I think it's a great way to be in the so call woods theme if you get what I mean.
