  • [Pictures] A World On The Move!!

    A while ago ... I started this topic - http://micechat.com/forums/disneylan...nd-photos.html

To show pics of the 1967 Tomorrowland when it was new. Photos that I had never seen before .. and most likely ...photos few here have seen.

I don't know how often the gang here visits what I consider two of the very best places to find vintage photos of DL:

    GORILLAS DON'T BLOG

    and

    Davelandblog

But they just continue to amaze me with always discovering amazing vintage photos of Disneyland, and other SoCal attractions.

So .. since that topic has been closed ... I do want to continue it, in some fashion .. by inserting more amazing photos as they come.

If the pictures are directly from a photobucket type account .. I'll hotlink them.

But if it's anything other than a photo webhosting site ... I'll just provide the links.

So ... here are three more amazing Tomorrowland 1967 photos to enjoy!!

Dear Peoplemover Fans, If you want to see a new attraction that at least mimics the 1967 Peoplemover in a future Tomorrowland remodel, you need to write to the powers-that-be, and let them know. If you don't - Then the next time Tomorrowland is remodeled, you will see a land barren of any "Peoplemover" type attraction.

Yeah ... it was all sleek, narrow lines .. then it "bulked-out". Especially at the entrance.

It needs to go on a diet!

I really enjoyed the second picture that shows the PeopleMover cars in the loading area and the Rocket Jets flying overhead!

        Thanks for the memories!

I should have added Matterhorn1959: stuff from the park

So .. really .. these three (Daveland, Matterhorn1959, Gorillasdon'tblog) ALWAYS have new "old" photos to show off! GREAT STUFF!

Here I go again ... actually ... FOUR - Tomorrowlounge .. where I found that bit on Mission To Mars.

There's just some really outstanding blogs some fans have assembled in the last few years.

And then I read what Bob Weaver has .. and Nautilus ... A Day on the Internet, searching vintage stuff on DL is never boring!!

Well, Tomorrowland really did change with the times as with the people, It used to be sleek and thin but over the years the average got thicker and bigger,
I think when america goes on a diet then maybe TL will lose some weight too! XD
            I am Scary Scott,

I am Scary Scott, The steampunk, brony, author of Northern CA, that has just moved to Southern CA!
Poor? Yes. Money? Forget about it, I got none! If I had it, I wouldn't for long, I want too much stuff!
Disneyland for me is my absolute favorite place on earth, So I am the oddest werewolf you ever will meet.

Re: A World On The Move!!

After looking those over my wife and I agree that Tomorrowland was better back then , than it is now.

Times change but I hope that Disney decides to give it a serious makeover once the changes to DCA are done.

Re: A World On The Move!!

An old family photo. I recently posted it in another thread, but I love that it has the Skyway, PeopleMover, and Monorail. I'd love to see Tomorrowland become more active, like it used to be.

What TL_67 said! I like them both, but I'm especially a fan of Gorillas Don't Blog -- both for David's excellent vintage slides and photos, and his funny commentary. A must-read!

I LOVE looking at vintage Tomorrowland photos. It's my favorite land to see in old photos as it's change so much (and not for the better). I hope Disney realizes what once was and what worked so well for so long and just goes back to it.

Great shot! The Innoventions building looked way better back then in that blue and white scheme than the dreary silver it is now.

i love the 2nd shot. that's what made tomorrowland so great. people always point to the whole "kinetic energy, you can see movement" argument from roy's savedisney.com but for me it's the fact that every inch of space was crammed with something you could do. nothing was off limits or sitting there wasting space. even the air was filled with things you could be doing and as far as the eye could see there was more attractions be it the other autopia or the peoplemover or monorail cars moving off in the distance almost towards it's a small world.
