  • [Question] Does anyone know if The Little Mermaid ride will hold a nod to Golden Dreams?

I was just looking at pictures of the construction of The Little Mermaid ride when for no reason I remembered Golden Dreams used to exist. So like the regular Disney tradition will they leave something over from Golden Dreams or put something else in that building as a nod?

I honestly hadn't even thought about it, but I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if it happens. I like this little tradition Disney has...even if the new attraction is a vast improvement (e.g. parking lot -> Indy, Golden Dreams -> TLM), it's nice to make a little tongue-in-cheek reference to what was there before.

Well, they did leave the Palace of Fine Arts rotunda. What bigger tribute do you want?

In all seriousness, I would love to see a more official nod to Golden Dreams. I only saw it once, but I actually really liked it. To me it exemplified everything that a park called California Adventure should celebrate. I hope they release it on DVD someday or at least find a way to continue to show it in the Carthay Circle Theater.

The Gold Sun/Star that Califia held in the Mural Outside will be placed in Ariel's Treasure Room. There may be the something from the Califia Statues inside kept in the Treasure Room as well.

You want to know the best way to remember Golden Dreams?

              Don't.

I still remember it. My sister used to work that attraction and she liked working there.

Maybe most of you don't want to remember it, but there are others who still remember and liked it like I do.

the "nod" is the dome left over.

Oh, come now. We're not talking Superstar Limo here. It wasn't repellent, just less than entrancing.

I tried to watch it (twice).
                        I feel asleep (both times).
And I really did try to stay awake too.
The only Disney attraction that I have fallen asleep (twice) on.

You fell asleep? Well, it was called Golden Dreams.

Maybe it should have been called Golden Dreams...and Air-conditioned Snores.

How could you fall asleep? Is your attention span really that short? I thought it was an o.k. little flick although not exactly acurate as far as what happened in California although if they based it on facts it would not have been a pleasant film with a heartwarming message.

How about a scene involving black carp (fish indigenous to China), the cliff face of an underwater abyss, and a few sticks of dynamite?

                              Too soon?
