  • [Idea] What Shop would you like too see in Buena Vista Street?

Open your Mind up a little, and think about what shop you would like too see the at the new Buena Vista Street and would an attraction work there?

The Vault Disney Store -- where you can get ANY Walt Disney era classic movie, TV episode, featurette, ex-park film or cartoon (also classic LP or single or soundtrack cut) made-to-order on CD or DVD -- also any movie poster, attraction poster or animation model sheet printed to order. Not revised merchandise or documentaries or mementos, but the true Walt Disney media!

Also - - a Walt Disney Family Museum store affiliate.

Attraction? Walt Disney Archives Exhibit and lush Walt Disney Classics Theatre.

To mimic the way Main Street is apparently going....I vote for a GAP.

I think that since there are lockers within the park and along what will be the new DCA Main Street, a facade should be built that turns the locker location into "Call & Sons Safe Company."

The restrooms next door could be themed as Los Angeles Water Works offices.

Some sort of multimedia store like this would be nice, I would buy every episode of the old Alice in Wonderland show they used to show on the Disney channel.

I think a store where they sell old DIsney character merchandise.

A comic book store complete with a someone drawing original art so that the store not only sells things, but provides a bit of show (like the candy makers and watch artists on Main Street). Plus comics would absolutely fit into the time period and Disney does own a certain comic company, but please make the store look period appropriate.

Agree with both of these! And my personal vote a clothing shop that sold original DLR clothing geared towards adults. Having lots of my personal favorite Themed camp shirts!

Re: What Shop would you like too see in Buena Vista Street?

There is a lot they could do.

While it is probably a given that the side of the street closest to Hollywood Pictures Backlot will remain a Disney Emporium type store which sells everything, I hope they still manage to build some well themed specialty stores as well.

Buena Vista street should be like a little town. it should have a theater, a restaurant, bakery, ice cream shop, etc.

I'd personally love to see an old fashion soda fountain/drug store. They could also have a "Tailor" shop which custom embroiders hats, shirts and other items.

A hardware store which sells home and kitchen items would also be welcome.

In short, I hope they go beyond building big warehouses which just pack everything in on the inside while making the outside look like multiple stores. I want them to build an actual functioning little village like Walt would have experienced and which Main Street once was before Paul Pressler.

This is a chance for Disney to roll back the clock and repair the damage done by Eisner/Pressler/Harris. They may have allowed the MBAs to destroy the uniqueness of Disneyland's Main Street over the past 20 years, but they could absolutely build Buena Vista street correctly from the start!

How many stores currently reside in Sunshine Plaza? Do they really intend on adding more stores when it's transformed into BVS? I'm not really expecting anything unique or exquisite. I imagine that many of the stores will be similar to what's in DHS anyway.

Buena Vista Street will be quite a big larger than the current Sunshine Plaza area. The entry for the park is moving out toward the current CALIFORNIA letters, a new building is going in where the Sun Hub is now. So we'll see a much more Disney quality entry (Similar in many ways to Disney Hollywood Studios in Florida) to the park when Buena Vista Street is completed.

Well if they cant come up with any shops, I'm sure there's room to put a restaraunt in there somewhere...maybe something themed to those Hollywood night clubs of the 20s and 30s.

I think there is a restaurant planned to go where the train is now. I think it's a little odd because it's right next to Test Pilot's. But I guess they wanted to have sidewalk dining near the new hub area, and it will make for a good people watching spot.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.
