  • [Rumor] New TRON Themed E-Ticket For Tomorrowland

As mentioned by Al Lutz in a recent Wednesday Round Up and later by Blue Sky Disney

Imagineers at WDI are said to be developing designs for a new Tron themed E-Ticket for Tomorrowland. Word is that the ride could become a reality in late 2012 or 2013.

Presently, it is anybody's guess as to what the E-Ticket TRON attraction will be. So, I thought I would poll MiceChatters opinions. Please feel free to discuss your views.

I'm going against the first two posters on the tron bikes on the PM track.

Think about how low capacity that'd be.

If they did a TRON Lightcycle ride, I'd take a guess and say it'd replace Innoventions, with a newer style of the older PM going back on the track.

Per Al, the idea for this attraction is just being 'considered', and will likely only happen if Tron is a smash hit (which it most likely will be). I think it's a bit premature to say that it's being designed, as if its eventual existence is a done deal.

If it does come to pass, I think it will be a 3D simulator ride. Building a good simulator ride takes up a lot less space, can offer a much richer audio/visual experience than a track ride, would be the only way to really simulate the Tron experience, and (most important to some) might be cheaper to build (?) than some kind of track-based ride.

I'm sure that some will call the simulator a bad idea because it is too much like Star Tours (II), but I think it could provide a very different experience if it was designed correctly.

Right on mickdaddy and CA. A Lightcylce PM ride would rock guys! think of the special effect possibilities when the cycles pass through the building tunnels. And think of the trippy interactive effects that could be encountered throughout the ride...especially at night. Perhaps the cycles could even tilt and bank during the turns.

Thanks for cruising by, Jeff and MainStreetLake. Regardless of whether a TRON Lightcycle ride becomes green-lit for the PM tracks or not, I hope that a showbuilding is incorporated into the ride. That would be soooooo cool.

I think I'll wait to see Legacy first before I vote. I just watched Tron for the first time last night. I'm sure it was great in it's time, but wasn't a great movie by any stretch. That said, I'll take an e-ticket ride anyway!

Not to be a complete party-pooper, but imagine how not-Tron-like it would be to ride around all of the outdoor portions of the PeopleMover track, at very leisurely pace compared to how fast lightcycles appear to move.

Besides, it has been widely reported (and confirmed) that, thanks to OSHA standards, the PeopleMover track can't be utilized for a ride without a serious re-design and lots of renovations. (Think widening it to make room for a walkway, adding handrails all along its edge, and emergency exit stairs or ladders every couple hundred feet.)

Anything TRON will make me happy as long as it's good and isn't cloned at WDW.

Whatever OSHA requirements Disney would face, I have complete confidence that Disney could adjust and build an exciting PM type of a ride. There's a saying - "The water flows around the rocks, not through them.

As a sidenote, OSHA has been a thorn in the side of business for far too long, and I will personally celebrate the day that the agency is defunded and "goes out of business".

That's the spirit, skoolpsyk! My guestimation is that the forthcoming film will have a lot larger budget, and far better writers, and film production/ special effects technitions

Rebuild the PM track but use the "right of way"... There could be two single lanes and maybe you could even pass other light cyles on the left only to have them pass you again.
