  • [Pictures] Disneyland Splash Mountain Brer Rabbit an imposter?

Has anyone else noticed that the Brer Rabbit at Disneyland doesn't really look like the character from the Soung of the South movie? The WDW and Tokyo versions got it right, but not Disneyland. It just seems strange that is all.

    Proof:

    Movie

    Disneyland

    WDW

I think the Disneyland looks more like the Original. WDW is grey.

Well, it's rumored Brer Rabbit is made from the AA parts of Ollie the Owl from America Sings. If this is true then there's the reason of why he doesn't look a lot like Brer Rabbit.

DL's Brer Rabbit is much cuter,

DL's version looks like the NesQuick rabbit.

The last picture doesn't want to be seen.

Brer Rabbit is supposed to be gray.. not brown. The WDW version looks darker than that (more accurate in color) under show lighting.

As for the reason, I think that when DL's Splash Mountain was built, most of the AAs came from America Sings. I even think there was a rabbit or two in America Sings that actually "turned into" Brer Rabbit with virtually no appearance modifications. When the created other Brer Rabbits for the scenes in the ride, they copied the look of the rabbit from America Sings in order not to have different looking Brer Rabbits.

At WDW and Tokyo, they designed all new Brer Rabbits.

EDIT: I found the Brer Rabbit that got transplated from America Sings into DL's Splash Mountain:

From this page (which has a ton of America Sings pictures - you can see that virtually all of DL's Splash Mountain is made of America Sings characters): http://www.imagineeringdisney.com/bl...ica-sings.html

Aha! Now it all makes perfect sense. This is why Disney won't release Song of the South on DVD.

                    I agree.

And yes. There was a rabbit from America Sings (and they moved the AA's to a Splash..two (geese) AA's went to Star Tours)

Actually, those were 2 geese stripped down to their wiring in Star Tours. That's why the the Geese Singers were short of 2 members in the later years. The one that sang "I've been working on the same droid" used to sing "I've been working on the railroad" in America Sings. If you look at there feet in pictures you will see they are webbed.

I didn't get the word all in there, sorry. Yes the two AA'S to star tours were geese.

I think the reason nobody's noticed the stylistic differences before is because no one's ever actually seen the movie! It's a rare treat these days to know someone that owns a copy.

Even if it is an illegal copy.
Song of the South is my favorite Disney movie but I don't see what's so controversial about it.
