  • [Question] Does Main Street open early?

    Hi everyone,
Newbie here. I've heard that Main Street used to open 30 minutes before the park, and I'm wondering if anybody knows if they still do this. We're going this weekend (park opens at 9) and need to hit up the annual pass office to get our pictures taken and I'd love to be able to get this done before the actual park opens.

    Thanks!

    It usually does.

It's never a guarantee, but it nearly always happens. It has to do with how long it takes to get the park ready for daily operation. The park will "open to the rope" (open Main Street up to a rope between the Photo Supply Co. & Coke Corner) 30-45 minutes before the official opening time as long as the trucks and workers are all finished and "off stage." If they're still working until 15 minutes before official opening time, then that's how early Main Street will open. See what I mean about "usually, but not guaranteed"? It's almost always 30 minutes ahead.

It should be noted that while Main Street may be open early, very few shops on Main Street open early. Generally it's Carnation Cafe, The Market House, The Emporium and Blue Ribbon Bakery. I believe with advance reservations you can also access The Plaza Innn for breakfast a bit early.
The only way to get past the rope is with a Magic Morning pass which is usually a hotel room key. The AP processing center is located in the hub and not actually on Main Street. As such I don't believe the processsing center will be open early.

Should be able to hit guest services (outside of the park.... left side of the main gates (DL) near the lockers and restrooms)

CMHusband has also mentioned hitting the ticket booths. This I've never done.

If you just need your pictures taken...you can do that anytime during the day. Do it during your lunch break. If you didn't get in the park with your AP (unless things have changed) you'll need to get your AP activated (years ago it required going outside the gates and re-entering the park...not sure if that is still true today) so you can use the FP machines.
