  • Trip Report 2011 Gumball Rally...From a "Smoke Tree Ranch" Point-of-View

    Team: Smoke Tree Ranch's account,
Lot of interesting pictures, maybe YOU are in one of my photos!

This was our first year at the ol' Gumball Rally. We were very excited and well-rested. The morning started out at the ESPN Zone with breakfast and Dusty's instructions(which for some reason I didn't upload the pictures from inside, maybe I'll post them later)

Ah well, I'll start you out with my favorite part of the day, our stampede of MiceChat dorks through Downtown Disney. I felt real special, like we were really something, ha. People were looking at us in amazement probably thinking "whoa, that's a huge flippin' group, they must be celebrities" haha.

    Me:

    And the wife:

    ....And the stampede:

Before Main Street, Circarama(I believe) was filming us entering through the turnstile, and we had a brief conversation about our team name and the actual Smoke Tree Ranch; he showed us his new STR belt buckle with the Ranch's logo. Pretty cool.

    Then, down Main Street:

    Random Matterhorn shot:

The first team we kinda hung out with was when we were on the Storybook Canal, forgot their name (maybe Quack Attack?). They were one of the top ten I believe, guy and girl couple, I think from Arizona, guy had glasses, they were real nice, and we were both laughing at how fast the wolf question came and went. Luckily, the boat came back around past it. They were genuine winners.

After Disneyland had been worked on for awhile we headed to DCA for its opening. A bunch of us were at the ropes before Paradise Pier anxiously waiting for 10AM to come.

We then power walked all the way to Toy Story to get that out of the way, no fastpasses, ha.

Saw the Incrediballs in line (and that's my wife's head at the bottom, ha):

Then saw some other teams waiting for Mickey's Fun Wheel, "It doesn't Matterhorn", one member had to wait for the others, and then I got the remainder coming off after they were done, they were always very pleasant...and very green ):

The Mary Poppins team, I thought her hat was cool:

I think this is the Bubba Gump team, and another further back:

Actually on the ferris wheel with my wife:

Shot of the Matterhorn from the ferris wheel, I thought it was a very cool photo, making the Matterhorn look like it really was poking out some wilderness:

Oh, and by chance we shared our gondola(sp?) with this team, forgot their name, but they were nice.

Before the train broke down, we were waiting here at New Orleans for the train to go, and I saw this door slightly open (hard to tell in the picture), wasn't sure if it is always open.

We also met an older couple celebrating their 30th anniv. They were so fun to talk to and had a million questions for us about Disneyland, it was fun.

    Stupid barrel question:

We finally finished, and I had a bit of a sunburn. Checked-out at like 6:50 for the bonus points:

We were among the first 5 or so people to arrive at the award ceremony, and were greeted by these folks:

My wife pretending(maybe not pretending) to be dead due to exhaustion, ha:

Staff bracing for a huge turnout:

The actual turnout, full capacity, some people in the spa, haha:

    Some hard-working photographers:

    Family Feud for prizes:

Circarama, filming, sporting his Smoke Tree Ranch belt buckle I believe:

Some lucky folks behind us getting picked to answer a random trivia question:

Anyways, we had a lot of fun, met wonderful people, shared many stories and experiences, exhausted the heck out of our bodies, and as Annual Passholders, saw Disneyland from yet another great point-of-view.

    Thanks, MiceChat!
    Caleb

Thank You Oz and Wife for those pics!! I had sooo much fun, but how did you manage time to take pics? I didn't even take my camera out because we were too pre-occupied with strategical issues...lol.

YES!, the barrel question was "stupid"

Anyhow, great pics and Thanks for sharing them.

Haha, you look contemplative, like, "hmm...whom shall I take a picture of next?"
