  • [Question] People mover...

Was youtubing videos of past disney rides (inspired by someone talking of super star limo and not knowing what it was) and came across the rocket rods... I was reading the comments about how all the kids wish they were around to ride it and it made me miss the people mover even more...
does anyone know if they plan to do anything with the track? Every time I go I look up at it kinda sad remembering the "good ol days" on the people mover with my Dad when I was kid. Among other things I miss from being a kid at the parks....

Well, most that's been said is they plan on doing "something", "eventually". No concrete plans.

They will do something with it, but we have no idea what. I imagine relatively soon we will have an idea or sorts. There is a lot of work that needs to be done to those tracks before anything (if anything) goes back up on them though.

There are many, many threads on this topic if you are interested in reading about what has been talked about on the boards.

George Kalogridis, President of the Disneyland Resort, as said that the PeopleMover will never return in the form that it was in.

This could mean that they are planning to retrofit the track or tear the tracks down altogether. Only time, and maybe an announcement at the D23 Expo, will tell.

We know they kept the track when they were installing Buzz Lightyear (the track is visible as there's a sun and moon visible). Looks like the track is still there in Space Mountain. When they did Star Tours II, the track in the extended queue is now covered over with a mural, and it looks like they covered the side of the track looking into the Droid room judging by videos of that room plus they project shadows of passengers walking behind the windows of Star Trader area. It's hard to tell where this will steer future People Mover plans.

THe attraction have down a long time
Now to bring it back there is a lot work need to be done.

Need pass new ADA and Osha rules and laws.

Disneyland need install wide walk way, exit stairs with (I think is 25 to 50 feet) and way for wheelchair get down from the track.
the walkway also inside some of the building.

Away to get up to load plaform the tunnel is block by BLAB exit

When all that done the people mover will come back.
