  • News Tonight's Fantasmic Cut Short Due to Columbia Problems

F! Got cut short tonight. The Columbia lost power about 1/3 of the way around the bend. The croc made a u-turn and went out by the dock. Then a boat sped out and pushed the Columbia off stage.

I rarely seen happen. It takes something major to cancel it mid show.

Was this during the second showing?

A small boat can push a big ship.

With tonight's mid show cancellation, does that mean that Fantasmic! may be cancelled due to the Columbia. Or will it get fixed overnight. They can not do the show without the Columbia.

^ Do you mean tomorrow night's Fantasmic?

It depends if they get the boat working or not. I'll bet you that Disney will have technicians working around the clock, from tonight all the way through tomorrow evening, to get the Columbia working again. If they can't fix it by tomorrow evening, the cancellation announcement may play a bit early. But if they can get it working, the show will go on.

If not have it ready tomorrow morning for park guests, will they have it fixed for tomorrow night's performance of Fantasmic!

Re: Tonight's Fantasmic Cut Short Due to Columbia Problems

oh, now I remember last week I took my cousin from out of town to Disneyland and we stayed for the 10:30 showing during the peter pan scene I noticed the Columbia ship was being push by a small boat in back of the ship. Due to that boat pushing the Columbia the crocodile was missing from that scene.

I doubt that they will cancel the show tomorrow if they can't fix Columbia in time. They will just use the small boat to push it.

Huh they always used the crocodile before even when the Columbia needed to be pushed.... weird.

/and yes it's happened before, not common to totally lose power midshow but it's happened several times

It wasn't that small of a boat, it was pretty long with two engines in the back.
