  • Trip Report Dinosaur Diorama Under Construction and Splash Mountain Opening

Splash Mountain is open, but i'm not sure what they changed. Maybe an oil change on the animatronics or re-painting. I looked at an old video and they added a blue bird on your right when you past the big mark twain scene. But, my sister loves the dinosaur diorama, so we went on the train. Unfortunately, the T-Rex was under construction! Do you know what they're doing?

I don't think they changed anything really so much as they just "touched-up" everything for the summer season.

And as far as the Grand Canyon Diorama goes, again, from what I have heard they just giving the AA's some love.

They are removing the dinos and adding the second largest 3d Imax screen in the world to compete with Universals King Kong. in a couple months they will also be installing scent machines and water features along with fire cannons. Its going to be the biggest 4d experience to hit a theme park.

next summer your train will rock and and tilt as it gets attacked by all kinds of dinosuars.

Part of main street station will be converted to a merchandise location. WDW management will then be able to order dino figures by bulk from China and add the Disney Parks logo to be sold here and Animal kingdom in Florida.

Its all part of the Disney park initiative to increase sells of merchandise.

I think I read on here at one point that the foundation underneath the T-Rex diorama was crumbling and it was in need of some serious repair. I don't think it had really been touched up since the park opened so hopefully it will look really well done once the curtain comes down.
"Up" is a relative concept. It has no intrinsic value.

I still think that they should move the Dioramas over to above the ROA just past the Festival area. This would block views of the ugly side of the Fantasyland Theater.

Splash did raise the water level a bit, so you get more wet. Dinos are getting much needed love should be ready in a couple weeks!!!

They also modified the loading area in Splash. The rails used to be pointed at an angle. Now they are just straight.
