  • Who's been to DL on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day?

Can you tell me what the crowds have been like in past years?

I am trying to decide whether to go in the park on the 31st or just hang out at the hotel and in DTD.

    Thanks.

PS Is DCA any less crowded than DL on those days?

As a former Cast Member who has endured 2 New Years Eve's at the park, I can honestly tell you that Disneyland will be the busiest you have ever seen. With that said, they do put on great shows all around the park and the countdown at the castle is really fun. Plus they usually have a surprise at the top of the Matterhorn.

I suggest you go, but don't expect to go on too many rides that day, especially in the evening.

We have gone the last two years to Disneyland. Last year we did California Adventure to watch The Fab Four and the year before that we enjoyed Disneyland. This year though.. We will celebrate at Disneyland. Like the previous poster said.. Don't expect to go on many rides. Just think of it as just being there. The crowds will be huge! We will be sure we are in the park earlier this year, probably by noon or maybe earlier. We will bring a board game and a deck of cards to play and just enjoy the day and night.
      Take Care,

      Brenda

:ap: It really is packed. At times it is almost impossible to move, you will feel like you are in a can of sardines, and it will take forever to get from one spot to the next. Your best bet is to have a plan and stick to it.
For instance last year we went to DCA to see the Fab 4 and it was well worth every second. If you have not experienced DLR on NYE and do not mind crowds then by all means go for it, keep in mind DtD will be crowded as well. Many people go to the Mickey and Friends parking structure just to watch the fireworks. If you want to avoid the crowds your hotel room may be the safest place to be. :ap:

New Years day is a good as an off-season day, and I've gone for the past two years that day.

OK, it's crowded. Despite that fact, we booked the 12:05 Fantasmic! dessert and rang in the New Year from the balcony. (And you can see the top of the Matterhorn from there.) And that was after a day of driving. We had a late lunch at Hungry Bear, spent the early evening in DCA where it was less crowded, and then worked our way over to our dessert.
