  • Disneyland Jobs.. for older aged peeps?

My mom is going to go apply at Disneyland tomorrow because she got an ad about the CM jobs in the newspaper. She's 42, and has 20 years of administrative experience plus she just got a small degree as a medical assistant. I was wondering, where do you think they might place her? I thought maybe she could work at TDA or even in the nurse station at the park. She just doesn't want to work ticketing because of their weird (and usually very late) hours.

Anyone have any experiences with this? I think it's awesome since they won't hire me (though I'll argue with them again tomorrow) since I'm not 18 until March.

You better not let her hear you call her "older aged peeps"

To me 42 is young (wish I was 42)

I'm a bit insulted, got a few more years to become an "older peep"! Only kidding......your just a "baby"!
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!

She could work just about any of the hourly jobs at DL. You may be surprised at what appeals to her. I have a full time office job, but I work stores at DCA. Different as night and day! Although I'm an "older peep", I feel like I'm 20 when I work with so many "kids"!

EagleWings: not to burst you (and your mom's) bubble, but she will most likely be hired on in a park position. I have 3 degrees (that all could have been used in a TDA capacity) and when I applied they placed me in Store Ops. If I had stayed, I MAY have been able to work my way to a backstage job, but most will start in the parks. But.... you never know. Good luck!

There's quite a few people working at DL who have been there since before I was born. Not sure what your mother would like to do. The First Aid center seemed pleasant enough, but she might want to be out in the park. I assume the park will be glad to have her, though!

Man I'm 37 and wow are you a bunch of old geezers. I think at 42 shes beyond retirement age so she probably won't be hired. ) )

OK, ok (ducks) I would imagine that DLR is looking for seasonal hires and people to work in the park. A TDA or nursing position sounds more of a permanent type job.

Just my 2 cents worth, which doesn't actually mean a thing since I've never actually applied to tried to get a job with Disney in any capacity.

When I was at DTD in Oct 2005, it seemed like all the CM's in the WoD were in the 40-50+ age range.

I didn't mean to poke fun or insult anyone, I just meant older as opposed to college aged peeps who most fit my description when I think of employees there.

Re: Disneyland Jobs.. for older aged peeps?

I think we know, we (well at least me, can't speak for the rest) were just kidding since we are all probably kids at heart. I guess it's all perspective too. Although during my last trip to the resort, I did notice that many of the CM's are of a younger generation, they are respectable and nice people so you don't classify them as the other that work in the typical jobs for that age.

I will say that now that I'm older, I do notice that the CM's are of many age groups and how well rounded the Disney family is. The people of Disney as like the people on this board are a well rounded group. That's what makes it so fun and interesting, the diversity of it all.

Good luck with your mom finding a job. Hope she finds what she is looking for.
