  • [Question] Buzz Lightyear

Simple question, but: How come all the vehicles look so thrashed all the time?

This Ride Has Been Around For A While. Not To Long, But If You Think About It, There's Usually A Pretty Long Line. Think Of All The People That Have Come And Gone. They've Gotten A Lot Of Use. Most Of Them Are In Pretty Good Condition, But Once In A While You'll Come Across A Vehicle That Looks Kinda Old And Beat Up. Hope This Info Was Helpful!

Good question. I haven't ridden this ride in over a year and when I rode it this past summer I was kinda sad that the vehicles were in such bad shape. :-(

Think of all the hands, back packs, purses and bags that have been drug across the entrance to that vehicle.

The ride cars on every attraction have been around a long while and every ride has backpacks and etc. being banged across the vehicle. I think this must have more to do with riders flailing around with their Blaster weapons trying to hit those targets and scratching up the vehicle in the process.

What is more curious is why they are not maintained or repainted on a more frequent basis. I don't know.

            This.

It makes sense that they get banged up, but why they haven't been maintined is a little odd. Those pictures make them look like carnival rides....

I imagine people end up banging their blasters all over the place also.

Absolutely. Look at the areas of car damage--in front where people rest the blaster to shoot at forward targets, and on the sides where people rest their blasters to shoot at side targets. I agree, it does look crappy, but I would think they would be very hard to paint and maintain. I think we'd be looking at at least a short-term refurb to finish it all.

It is quite sad to see the cars in such bad shape, however, I would imagine they would be quite hard to maintain, as mentioned above. After all, they do get quite a bit of use...
All right, listen! I didn't want to have to do this, but you leave me no choice. Here comes the smolder.

Love the excuses... if this were the WDW forum we'd be hearing how the administration doesn't care.. is cheap... allowing bad show.. etc.

It's simply upkeep DLR is falling behind on. Get on it DLR

I tend to agree a bit with Flynnibus. When I went with my sister in early Oct of this year, the ride broke down. Lights came on and we were about half way through, Ill say about 90% of the cars I saw needed upkeep.

Maybe it is like what George Lucas was trying to present in Star Wars. A used future. In other words, everything does not always look pristine like it just came off an assembly line.

you can ask this about a lot of ride vehicles...personally I believe resources and budget are just focused elsewhere for now...after all Pirates is in refurb beginning next year Matterhorn will be in refurb for new sleds. so ask yourself...Buzz paint refurb? or New Matterhorn sleds? basically it's give and take and choosing what needs more TLC...painting the space cruisers is possibly lower priority for now but hopefully Buzz will get touched up sometime soon.

                            ...seriously

No it should be 'we have X work we have to fix'. Maintenance is not capital improvement programs. It's work you do because it must be done, not because 'its what we budgeted for last year'.

The mentality is wrong.. that's why such issues are allowed to linger. Instead of show first, it's business first.
