  • [Pictures] Does anyone else think this use of Walt's image is in poor taste?

Since the 90's I had always wished Disneyland would have some kind of presence of of Walt in the park. Cause from what I recall, it was non existent before the partners statue except for his office displayed in the opera house. So I finally find some merch with him on it and this is what I get?

Is it me or is this merch a bad use of Walt's image? I think the layout, colors, collection of random fonts and the fact they literally just cut out his head is awful.

Um, yeah, it just doesn't fit the image I have of Walt Disney. It doesn't come off as a concept that I perceive Walt would have used for merchandise. To me it is a cheap way to try and capitalize on Walt's image and it is done in a very "cheap" way.
Stalking is when two people go for a long romantic walk together but only one of them knows about it.

Yes, we saw that merch in August and thought it was just awful. My wife and I found it very tacky.

I wouldn't call it in "poor taste" just because of the use of Walt's image, but for the overall design and execution -- which truly suck. From the pathetic, trying-too-hard-to-be-hip fonts to the design's size and clumsy placement on the cap, the whole thing screams "Cheap Overseas Crap."

So where is it being sold at the DLR, and how much is Disney charging overcharging for it?

It was in Clothiers men's section. last week it was the "wolverine" belt. ooh la la, now this. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate all merch in that store, I did buy three t-shirts tonight cause the fall collection came out just last week

            This was just too much.

This. Maybe if no one buys one they'll fire whoever made this ugly thing. I've been looking for a new ball cap for the past several months, but most of them are so stupid looking. How hard is it to design a cool looking ball cap?

I am in the same situation as you MacDaddy. I've been looking to replace my sweat stained ball cap all summer, but the selection at the parks sucks. Maybe we should just order the Micechat ball cap.

In poor taste, maybe not...he isn't being used in a inappropriate way or with negative connotations. But it's a damn ugly hat and not very dignified or respectful...just ugly. Can say that for a lot of modern park merchandise though.

Ugliness aside, (which it truly is) I don't think it's in poor taste because Walt seemed to be ok with the corporation using his image ~ am I wrong?

Terrible design, I imagine we will see that in the basement bargin bin or shipped to some 3rd world country. I just can't see people purchasing that hat when there are some many better ones available.

That is a terrible hat all around.
There is no right or wrong in this debate. It is simply a matter of perspective.

The way it is executed reminds me of something KFC would put out for colonel sanders. Very ugly and tacky.
