  • A question for AP holders.

Simple question, but difficult one to get from DL's site. I have been wanting an AP for a long time. Im finally going to brake down and get one. Questions is, can you "upgrade" them later on?

Currently I cant afford the delux with parking (259?) but I can get just the delux for 209. Can I later add the parking portion?

Also, my wife is not a big Disney fan, but still wants to join me every now and then. Can I get the cheaper 149$ pass for her, and upgrade her later if she wants to go on like a Saturday or even during the month of October? (Blackout days? No! Blackout MONTHS!

Also, how much is parking now? Last time I went, it was 7$. 50$ extra for parkings means I would need to go at least 6+ times to get my money out of it. Is it worth it? Also, do they put you in the far away lots, or just whatever lot is open?

Anyways, thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes, you can upgrade your annual pass to a higher one anytime while it's still valid.

    Currently, parking is $9.00

Most people park in the Mickey & Friends parking structure but if it fills up you'll be directed to one of the additional parking lots such as Simba, Timon, Pumba, Pinocchio, Lilo, or Buzz Lightyear. Sometimes those additional parking lots are open before the structure fills up but usually the Mickey & Friends structure is where you park.

I had a question about parking, too ... I'm finally getting an AP after realizing I'm a Disneyland junky and it is better to get an AP then paying for hoppers ... anyway my question:

It says APs park in Mickey and Friends ... I know early in the morning they direct people entering the Timon lot to Mickey and Friends ... but if the Timon lot is open can APs park there or must we always check the Mickey and Friends lot first?

BUT they don't prorate the upgrade.... You have to pay full price for the upgrade to the exparation of the current card... (I think the exception to this is upgrading when you renew...) That is the catch...

The AP is good at any of the theme park lots (not valid for DtD or Hotel lots). When I was there last Sunday the parking was $10 for those lots. As far as Mickey and Friends lot filling up I havent run into any time in the last year that it was full. The closest was last July 4th we had to park on the roof, and we didn't get there until mid afternoon.

I would also like to suggest that anyone waiting to buy an AP not wait to much longer the price has gone up twice in the last year and the "buzz" I am hearing is there is another comming soon.

If THATS the case, it will only take me 5 trips to make up the money! I have a friend with the parking pass so I may not get it.

Another question. Whats the best way of getting the AP? Since this is Disney, I doubt they have any discounts or deals even for AAA members. Last time I was there (Remember, parking was 7$ and DCA was a big dirt mound) you got your ticket (48$ back then) and when into the park. Then you went to the court house and they put the entry fee (The 48$) twards the AP. Is that how they still do it? (At 53$).

I cannot say that I am 100% sure on this, when my family and I purchased ours for the 1st time this year we paid for them at the ticket booths and then went to the AP center behind Honey I Shrunk the Kids. My wife seems to think that you have to purchase them at the booths.

You can purchase them at the ticket booths or you can purchase another ticket and then upgrade once you're in the park.

Bring your parking receipt when you upgrade to add parking .... they'll credit the $10 to your upgrade purchase .....

AAA doesn't get a discount, but they do give you some Disney Dollars for free.

I have a Deluxe AP, but plan to pay the extra $25 to go to the park on a blackout day. Can I buy my ticket in advance, or do I have to buy it on the balckout day? Is that ticket a parkhopper?

9 bucks is nothing compared to the $22 bucks I pay to park at Giants games. (Pac Bell Park)

I have the premium AP, but have always stayed off-property within walking distance so I've never had to park at DL. This month will be the first time I actually have to use a parking lot there. I don't even know where they are!

Yep, parking is indeed $10 now. They're still paying off the new structure, apparently...

And we had a friend upgrade twice now, on the same pass. From a seasonal to a So Cal, and then from a So Cal to a Deluxe. So it can be done. They're not going to turn down your money, after all!

Parking is so simple for DL. The Parking garage is right off the freeway (I-5)
two signs you can either go to the right which is Down Town Disney parking or the left which is Mickey and Friends parking!

Shhhh!!! That was supposed to be a secret! Now how is DL supposed to justify the raise in parking prices! Sheesh, don't you think of anyone but yourself?!?

Parking is simple if you come from I-5, it's kinna complicated if you come from anywhere else, like the 57 which is what I do. I'm always kinna annoyed by how the resort is designed totally around the 5, making it a huge pain to get anywhere else.
