Goodbye, Bob -- your body of work touched me in so many ways I could not begin to say. Thanks so much.

Of all the music produced in the second half of the twentieth century the Sherman Brothers work may not have been the most highbrow or the most complex, but it certainly was among the best loved. I firmly believe that as long as people are free to be happy their little tunes will be known and sung a hundred, even a thousand, years from now.

Such terrible news. He was brilliant. I can't even begin to express how awful I feel over this. I'm sure he'll be remembered forever and respected for his fine contributions to music, film, and Disneyland.

They should do a dedication at the beginning of WOC to him for the next few weeks.

He had a long life, but also a hard, painful one. He's at peace now and the family feud is over.

Yes, I heard that Richard and Robert had been growing apart over the years (as the documentary "The Boys" attests), but I wonder how Richard is taking this.

In any case, rest in peace, Robert.

In 2001, I had gotten into a car accident and had my arm in a cast for several months. At the time, I was part of an online Sherman Brothers fan group that was run by one of Robert's sons. As part of my recovery, I shared my experience playing simplified Sherman Brothers songs on my piano with one hand. Imagine my surprise when I got a short note of encouragement from Robert Sherman himself! He wished me well and hoped for a speedy recovery.

It was so nice to get a little lift from one of my musical heroes. And that's exactly the kind of thoughtful and generous man he was.

                              RIP Robert Sherman.
