Does this mean that HM won't be done up in Nightmare Before Christmas this fall? Or just that there won't be an "event" with a show and stuff? (I've never been to a DL event or seen HMH, but I'm going in October and was hoping to see HMH!)

I can understand why they might not want to do any of the HMH stuff this year. If tourists are coming to see the big 50th (you know Eisner's got his fingers crossed on this one!), and the "celebration" is lasting for the entire year, they might not want to change a classic attraction so drastically. I can see how tourists could feel slighted at missing the opportunity to see the original version of the HM.

          Great point.
I think that might be the case as well, but still, the thought of not having Jack deck the Halls this year is enough to make me CRAAAAAAZY.
I absolutely love the Haunted Mansion Holidays version and I'm crossing my fingers that it'll be there.

I have heard this rumor pop up before. I think we were reassured that the HMH merchandising event is being cancelled, NOT the HMH overlay. The merchandising event is going to happen at WDW this year. They will be getting the HMH overlay for the first time.

I think that the overlay brings in too much money for them to cancel it. My son would be quite disappointed if they didn't let Jack come back for his yearly visit.
Anything listed on the park maps as an attraction is fair game for inclusion in the Rally.
I cannot confirm nor deny the inclusion of any attraction in the Rally.

HMH the ride will still happen. The merchandise event will not.

XCLIPSE, that was the rumor that went around because it came out that they aren't doing the merchandise event. But the overlay will be returning this year.

Sorry I'm not in the majority on this one. I've never like the HMH. Course, I'm not into the fetishes of stripes, zipper scars, and white face the way Tim Burton is...

I wouldn't shed a tear if it did go missing.

You know, it's kind of interesting.....

                          I like the regular HM

Don't like the Nightmare Before Christmas movie

Like the HMH better than the original HM

It makes absolutely no sense, and I can't explain it, but there you have it.

I have to agree with DisneySavor. I wasn't much of a fan of the overlay myself.
Marge: Barnacle Bill's Home Pregnancy Test? Homer, shouldn't we have gone with a better-known brand?
Homer: But Marge, this one came with a corn-cob pipe!
Marge: [reading from the test box] "Ahoy, Maties! If the water turns blue, a baby for you! If purple ye see, no baby thar be!"
Homer: So, which is it? Blue or purple?
                            Marge: Pink.
                            Homer: D'oh!
Marge: "If ye test should fail, to a doctor set sail!"

I LOVE HMH! I love HM period and the overlay is awesome!!!! Merchandise event- who cares really- but I can't see them ditching the overlay. Why in the world would the 50th make any difference? The 50th is running for a year! A few months of HMH is only going to do better!

Would you expect them to ditch the Small World Holiday??? The 50th should not make any difference at all.

I gotta admit going to HMH and then going back when its been taken out makes me feel like "wow it looks pretty plain now" Does anyone feel that way like after they remove the overlay?

I always look forward for HMH, they shouldn't cancel it. It's cool to see the haunted mansion in a different theme.

I must admit... After I saw it for the first time, I couldn't help smile... I hadn't had goosebumps like that since I was a kid... I couldn't help but smile and tell everyone I know up here in the Bay Area that they HAVE to go down durring the holidays to see it...

Yes I agree but since they added the new effects it has a nice WOW factor to it again!

I will miss the event this year, however, I am excited to learn about the upcoming event for the 50th. I trust it will be a large multi-day event like the Tower of Terror event last April. My friends who work with Merchandise Special Events have said that they are planning on doing some event with Space Mountain. I really enjoy the exclusive dinners inside of attractions and hope to see the same with Space Mountain!
