  • [Question] DL vs WDW - Just wondering

Is there a list somewhere (website, link, etc) that has a listing of all the rides at each theme park. Last time I was at WDW it seemed like the rides were pretty much similar to each other. Meaning one park didn't really have more or less rides, just maybe something similar to each other, called different names but basically were the same ride. Anyway I was going to do this myself but then thought maybe someone already did this and I was just doing work un-needlessly. TIA.

DL has 1-3 more rides as for as MK/DL park goes.
Most of the attracations that were built after the disneyland ones like POTC are shorter in WDW then they are in DL

Yeah, I was going to direct you to Disney's website. You can print out your own maps, or just read about the different rides.

The Wikipedia article counts some versions of things at a single park several times, like the Train Station in each land counts as four attractions instead of one, or the various versions of fireworks shows and parades each count as a separate attraction.

Combining those items, I counted recently and found that Disneyland had 56 attraction while Magic Kingdom had about 38, a far greater difference than just 1-3.

Re: DL vs WDW - Just wondering

All in all, the Disneyland Parks are a 'best of' collection. At Disney World, each park has 2 - 4 major E-ticket rides. I tend to skip the Magic Kingdom, for example... It has only Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, and Splash Mountain as major E-tickets. Disneyland has those, plus Indiana Jones, Fantasmic, Star Tours, Matterhorn, Roger Rabbit, Finding Nemo Subs, etc.

In that way, Walt Disney World is much more tedious to tackle. You've absolutely got to visit DHS if you want Tower of Terror, Rock n Roller Coaster, and Star Tours, for example, but after those three, there are no more major rides. Animal Kingdom really has only Everest, Dinosaur, Kilimanjaro Safaris, and the Festival of the Lion King. All well and good, but after those, what's left to do?

Meanwhile in terms of E-tickets and major rides, DCA has Tower of Terror, California Screamin', Soarin', Grizzly River Rapids, World of Color, Aladdin, RSR, etc. PLUS the little extras like Animation (DHS), Tough to be a Bug (DAK), Muppets (DHS), and originals like Bugs Land, Winery, etc.

So the two parks of Disneyland contain just as many major rides as the four parks of Walt Disney World, just conveniently closer and with more to do at any given park instead of skirting all over for 2 or 3 good ones.
I believe I chose the life of a tomb raider, because
I'm addicted to the excitement that comes when life hangs in the balance.
                ...
                Famous last words.

Not so - HM and POTC are just special cases because the reason they are longer in the start (Portrait Hall in HM, and caves in POTC) are to move the guests to the show building. A problem that didn't exist in MK. So the HM still kind of 'fakes' it, but doesn't have the long walk after the stretching rooms and POTC doesn't have as long as caverns or as many drops. (there are some show differences with POTC as well...). But these are the special cases, not the 'rule'.

The only other example I can think of off my head is the railroad has the dioramas as the train traverses the front of the park.. which again.. weren't needed at MK.

On the other side.. splash has more in MK.. etc.

Using park maps to make a list of attractions may not be the best way to go about this. For example, the DCA map lists "World of Color" as an attraction, but the Disneyland map does not list "Fantasmic!" I'm sure others could find more discrepancies.

Also, is "Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique" really an attraction?

Eh, it's the most "official". But I agree, there are things across the resorts that aren't very consistent. Disneyland lists all of their Main Street Vehicles as separate attractions, which I agree with. Disney World lumps them into one... but they also count City Hall as an attraction LOL.

So if you look at the list I provided, I tried to be more fair in providing extra attractions that WDW left off and what's to come. Still, the result is the same. Disneyland has MORE.
