I think they do soft openings until the day the attraction opens, so its possible it will be open on New Years Eve an tommorow!

I just returned from Disneyland yesterday and had the chance to ride Monsters on Monday morning. The cast member said they would try to keep it open as much as possible during the next week due to the crowds. That being said, it went down right at 10:00 am for technical issues that were worked out within 20 minutes or so.

Although it is not an "E" ticket, it was an enjoyable attraction and, in my opinion, money well spent.

I just wish they had spent an extra few hundred dollars to get the characters mouths to move. Maybe Disney could negotiate with the Teddy Ruxpin or Furby people to get moving mouth technology. The whole design of the ride really draws attention to the static nature of their mouths.

I have to agree with Lore. I got to ride Monsters, Inc yesterday and that was the most obvious thing missing from the ride.

Other than that, it's a fun ride and a lot better than what used to be there.

I'm no imagineer, but I I'm pretty sure it would have cost more than a few hundred dollars!

Someone should point the imagineers to this amazing mouth moving technology...

Yeah, it's $9.95 and they have maybe 5 characters that really need moving mouths so for less than the cost of a single guest entry...
