[Chat] Murphy in need of an update?

For a while now I have thought murphy was in serious need of an update. With all her tech issues and limited motion, I was sure one was coming. But as time went on I just accepted it. Now after seeing footage from DreamWorks How to Train Your Dragon Arena Spectacular, it became clear to me that murphy is really lacking. Below I linked two videos one of a dragon in motion and the other is a behind the scenes. So what do you guys think, should murphy be upgraded?

I don't see anything wrong with Murphy. Worked perfectly fine the last two times I watched the show. (with in the last month).

These dragons are cool but totally different then fantasmics. Remember then need to make it able to fold out to reveala nd fold up to hide unassisted every night.

um those are what you call puppets. murphy is a full AA. murphy is the best AA there is out there.

IMO, Murphy just needs to breathe fire again and then she would be great.

Murphy, wasnt that a great summer of anticipation? that was so much fun when she finally performed for the first time, one of my all time favorite moments at Disneyland

That was a summer of complete and utter embarrassing failure. The dragon is still new. There are bigger fish to fry than this.

now no one argue with me on this lol but in oct 2010 murphy broke again and was replaced with a different dragon called "Snaps" judging by his name thats how the original broke. i work in entertainment in the park so thats how i know this is true. so murphy has been updated )

I was lucky enough to see Walking With Dinosaurs when it came to Staples a couple of years ago and it was an amazing show. I can't wait for this new show as it looks to be even more fun. That said, these are puppets not stand alone A/A figures and the are way too big to be used on the island. Murphy does cause some problems sometime, but in no way is she terrible but more like the best 45 foot tall, fire breathing, full figure A/A in use today. She will be around for a long time.

I remember the first time I saw Murphy in person being an awesome addition to the show! Made me forget what the original dragon looked like... until a friend showed me a clip from Youtube right after the show. :blush:

I don't like how obvious the crease between the neck and the rest of the body is. That's really my only complaint.

LOL, I would recommend not looking it up on Youtube. There's a comparison between the New Dragon and Dragon on a Stick. How the old one has not aged well!

I will say that the lighting was better for "Dragon on a stick" though... made it so you had no idea how massive the dragon was. Right now it's spelled out for you... but the new dragon is still visually stunning.

I've seen her skip the fire breathing in the first show but do it in the second show on the same night. I wonder if it's a judgment call to do it or strictly a technical issue. I'd imagine they plan for it to happen at every show but if something isn't quite right they skip it.
