We have seen many amazing E Tickets lately with Radiator Springs Racers, Transformers, and the Forbbiden Journey. We know how much these have cost, but what would a billion dollar e-ticket look like? Would it be themed to Marvel, or be set in a huge Mountain Range. Would it have new technology? Or would it follow the classics? Thoughts.

Re: A Billion Dollar E-Ticket!
A billion dollars would mean absolutely no holes in the theming like pirates...but better. It would be filled with many state of the art animatronics like mater and ariel. It would mean HUGE sets that would make the main indy scene look tiny and bland. It would be themed to a place, movie, idea as big and memorable as Radiator Springs or WWOHP. It would have to be a univers unto itself. In the quest for quality, I have no problem with the characters footing the bill.

Re: A Billion Dollar E-Ticket!
For a billion dollar budget I would expect original and innovative ideas, not another movie tie-in. It would be a complete travesty with that kind of money to not explore the unknown. Even with RSR's budget I feel it was underutilized and a waste of a golden opportunity to really push the creative boundaries of Walt Disney Imagineering.

I love that POTC is still considered the gold standard. Two massive show buildings, multiple levels, perfect theming of the flume to the rock and town, thrills and slow parts, lighting, sound, AAs galore, perfect music, not to mention an integrated restaurant, shops and private club. It doesn't get much more amazing.
I actually wonder what POTC might cost in today's dollars.

Re: A Billion Dollar E-Ticket!
My question is "who'd be on the team that would design and build it, and who would be in charge of them?"
Pirates of the Caribbean wasn't a success because it had a megabudget, but because it was created a team of very talented imagineers with a deep background in film, character development, story, art direction and music, who previously had worked together under the same studio roof for decades. A team that was hired and inspired by a highly creative visionary who also was the head of the company.
The depth and breadth of talent, experience, confidence, maturity and leadership that created POTC and Haunted Mansion isn't something that an ex-Chief Financial Officer like Tom Staggs can write a check for and contract out to freelancers -- no matter how big the budget.Last edited by Mr Wiggins; 06-21-2012, 07:51 PM."Disneyland is often called a magic kingdom because

Re: A Billion Dollar E-Ticket!
A billion dollars worth of special effects and high-tech doodads can never replace the intangibles of originality, imagination, creativity, interactivity, storyline, characters, humor, drama, surprise, thrills, music, design, details and theme. Those are the qualities that Imagineers put into it. Otherwise the park could be designed by soulless computer. The machinery of an attraction may be forgotten, but the intangible human qualities that people can relate to are what are remembered. Those are the soul of an attraction and none of those cost a billion dollars. And a billion-dollar attraction without those qualities is worth nothing.

Re: A Billion Dollar E-Ticket!
If built in the future a billion dollar attractions would be a simple spinner.
If built now it would need enourmous capacity and many dining and merchandise locations tied to it to cover its costs.Be Cool Stay in School!
Next year I'm trying for a summer internship at Stark Industries.

Re: A Billion Dollar E-Ticket!
A billion dollar budget would have the Imagineers giddy with the prospect of adding corners instead of cutting them. We could end up with a three story Pirates type of a ride (with part of the ride being beneath the ground). To Boldly Go Where No MiceChatter Has Gone Before!
