  • Trip Report A Lovely Day In June

We hadn't been since the closing of The Carnation Gardens, but wanted to squeeze one last trip in before heading off to our summer home in upstate New York. We got in around noon, and the place was not at all jammed.

Even the Gibson Girl was empty.

The revamped Penny Arcade and Candy Palace were very nice looking, but the actual arcade games that have been disappearing through the years were sorely missed by us.

In doing some Googling I discovered that this is no antique, but rather a readily available music box that should look very nice on my mantle.
We passed by the skeletal remains of what used to be the bandstand at the Carnation Plaza Gardens.

On entering Frontierland I found that someone had laid a flower on the dedication plaque. It made for a nice photo.

Alladin's Oasis is reopened as a meet and greet as well as a nice place to simply hang out in the shade.

Back to the new Carnation Cafe for dinner. At 5PM the place was nearly empty, but it still took 15 minutes for a table. The salad entries were tasty and the staff were friendly enough, but from entering the place to paying our bill took well over an hour, and the place was no where near full. It seems they're still finding their way.

We walked next door to the Gibson Girl for some dessert, and the place was STILL empty. What's up with that? Mighty friendly staff here too.

Later in the evening we went through Buzz to close the night out and I finally broke a million points! I even made the top ten for the day.

Search here on Mice Chat for references and posts on the various secret targets, and bonus points, memorize where they are and have at them. Good luck, it only took me 7 years of trying to get this score!

It's amazing seeing Disneyland so empty in June... I know that DCA is taking a lot of business but still... wish I was there!
