  • [Question] Grad Nights

I graduated high school in Las Vegas so I don't know anything about this 'Grad Night' thing. I'd like some clarification on exactly what it is.

For some reason, I was under the impression that the park was open to the general public till like 10:00, then it closed to the general public, then the grads could come in and the park would be theirs until morning.

Then I read a Trip Report here that says that the park opens for EVERYONE in the morning (or the grads showed up after school or something), the grads get wristbands, the park closed early (I want to say 8:00?) but the grads could stay later.

I'm pretty concerned about this. I'm planning my next trip to DLR next May (which appears to be smack dab in the middle of Grad Week) and I definitely do not want to spend my entire day in the park with high schoolers.

    Can someone clarify for me?

The last Grad Night at DL is tonight. Starting next year it moves over to DCA.

      Re: Grad Nights

Not sure of the actual DL/DCA closing times next year, but normally it's around 8PM-9PM for the public. I know this year they did a NEW-for-2012 program that gave HS kids the oppty of an all-day park-hopper (wrist-band) ... I assume someone else here will give specifics.

But I wanted to say that the Grad Nites are only normally Tues/Wed/Thur nights. Usually just once a week in May and twice a week in June.

If you're going in May... it's a safe bet that it would only be happening on Wed OR Thur night that month.

This Summer... usually late July or August, the DLR will post the 2013 info.

      Hope this helps.

Yeah things were done differently than they have in past. I remember in 2009 when were at the DLR two night in a row DL closed at 9:00pm and DCA closed at 6:00pm. WHile we were leaving the grads were assembled in the esplanade waiting to be let in and free to roam until 6:00am. This while we were down for the Gumball Rally the park was open until 11:00pm on friday and grads were allowed into the park starting at 4:00pm. At 11:00pm the announcement was made that the day was over for regular guests and then many CMs began checking for wristbands very similar to Mickey's Trick or Treat Party. The grads were allowed to stay until 3:00am this year I believe.

This year started a new program. They shortened the private party but gave some other privledges instead.

Grads received a park hopper to use during the day and could show up anytime during the day. They also got 2 FPs to use. At 11pm DL closed to the general guests and the private party began.

They got a special showing of F! shortly after the party started. At 2:30 a special fireworks show and the party ended at 3am.

Next year the party will take place in DCA, be the same but instead of F! and firworks they get WoC.

You can go if living in Vegas. It's for high school aged groups of students.

                  Thanks, everyone, for the info.
We plan on using a 3 Day Park-Hopper, using one on Memorial Day, then that Wednesday and Thursday. We were going to do DL on Monday and Wednesday then DCA on Thursday but I'll be happy to swap my Wed/Thursday plans if it means missing the grads.

And while I did graduate high school in Vegas, I was a big-time loner and didn't pay attention to any of the extra-cirricular activities that occurred, even possible grad nights at DL.
