Disney surveys - how are they used?

  • [Question] Disney surveys - how are they used?

    I just completed a Disney survey. A CM approached us at DCA and asked for our email during our stay, and we agreed. I was just wondering how the results are used, and if our comments will actually make a difference.

    Sure they will. There's multiple surveys for different purposes, but they are definitely collecting that data for a reason. Mostly marketing purposes it seems. Guest demographics and whatnot. If we're not in a hurry, we usually will stop and answer their questions. Some surveys are definitely longer than others. I was approached in Hollywoodland back in December by a CM who signed me up for a focus group. It was one hour long and they gave me $100 cash. It was about the Mad T Party. Pretty cool as they showed us all of the concept art and stuff months before the party was even announced.

      Thanks for that explanation. Needless to say, no $100. That would have been nice. An additional monte cristo for the fam would have been in order ) !

        I've done several of the email surveys, and they tend to focus on different aspects of a visit. They also collect a LOT of demographic data, like asking how many times you've been to the resort, how many times in the last year, what kind of ticket you came on, and if you consider yourself an expert who knows more about the park than most people (that one makes me giggle).

          I've been disappointed that the surveys I've taken haven't allowed free-form comments. They asked things but not about anything I wanted to talk about. I usually do surveys when asked, unless I'm in a hurry for something.

            Not every survey can be a free-for-all. If you have an idea or something to talk about, you can email guest services.

              Yeah, I've only done the quick surveys where they asked what attractions we went on, how long our stay is, etc. No open ended questions. I try to do them as much as I can.

                The survey I took allowed me to write about my experiences in depth, which was nice. I liked they way it was compiled. At the end, it allowed me to put any additional comments that I had. Kudos to the team that has put this survey together. I think they have done a very thorough job, allowing guests to give ALL of their views and thoughts. My park experience was awesome for the most part, but I looked at it like it was an employee eval.... no one is perfect, right? So I laid out my experience with many plusses, and the few minuses that I had. I LOVE THE PARKS, and am I happy to have been a part of their survey.

                  Since I invariably go alone when I told co-workers that I was interviewed they said "They're not interviewing you, they're profiling you." Ha ha. Do I look suspicious? Last week I was taken into a room near City Hall to fill out a survey on a computer about food service. Coincidentally it was the first day I ate a complete meal at DL ... and my order was wrong!

                        They turn around and sell their survey data after they are done with it for their own purposes. Customer analytics like this are big $$$ in the retail world.

                        Some people think they need to watch out for the gov't watching them --- retailers and big business already know more about your buying behaviors than anyone else.

                          My park survey was very short and followed up by an email survey. The email survey dealt quite a bit with skiing. It made me wonder if they intend to venture in a Mineral King type ski resort.

                            I've done a number of surveys when being stopped. I'm always inclined to do so unless I'm running late for a reservation or meeting up somewhere. Sometimes its just a quick few minutes others have been 15 mins. I frequent the parks enough that I want to let my opinion be known to Disney so it can help in making improvements.
