Re: Disneyland Resort Experience Adding Moments

Oh my gosh, I am going to fall in love with this thread!

Have some copy-pasta from another thread I posted about.

Like I said before, they're not all bad, it's just the loud ones that stand out. Let me give some good examples to balance it out.

Disneyland Railroad: While sitting in the coaches with bench-like seats that face forward, I happened to be sitting behind a group of 5 Grad Students; 3 male 2 female, who were discussing nostalgia. They brought up things like The Land Before Time, Homeward Bound, The Little Engine that Could, etc. All these things I remember watching a lot oh VHS when I was smaller. This went on for so long I jokingly said," Stop bringing back childhood memories!" They all had a good laugh and I joined in with their conversation, discussing different shows, movies, songs, and other things that we grew up with until they reached their stop. They were a fun group. Not to mention respectable. They weren't loud or rude. They were just a bunch of friends that were hanging out with each other. Imagine it like a small meet-up with fans of a TV show like Doctor Who. A group of 5 Doctor Who fans meet up at Starbucks and discuss episodes in a friendly manner. Now translate that into the group I was conversing with. They were fantastically awesome. They also made me break out the old VHS player. ("Long live VHS!" One of the girls shouted). They seemed like the type you'd meet on MiceChat. In fact, I'd be surprised if they weren't part of it, because they sure did seem like it.

Temple of the Forbidden Eye: Two male grad night students were in the single rider line with me along with a few other public members as well. While waiting in the projection room, they were discussing things about Indiana Jones, much like the above stated Doctor Who meet-up. They even jokingly said that Indy has been stuck in the temple for how many years now? He got out to do the Crystal Skull but then went back inside, still trying to solve the mystery of the lost tourist. They threw more Indy jokes at one another. When we went into the holding room, I stayed back to read the cork board with the maps and drawing and stuff. When the single riders went ahead, I almost forgot about them and sprinted back into place. They kindly let me back to where I was; right in front of them. They understood I was reading up on the backstory of the ride. When it came time to ride, they needed a party of 3. With no party of 3, they took 3 single riders. The trio of us got front seat with me as the driver. Cue jokes about how their lives were in my hands and me acting out as if I was driving the jeep, shifting gears and putting my foot down on the clutch n' all. They made believe they were actually in the Indiana Jones story, and that story translated onto me. We three soon believed we were running for our lives in the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. It's people like that who bring the story ten-fold that really do make my day.

There's the good, the bad, and the ugly. Although when the good if good and they stand out exceptionally well, the bad ones always ruin the good moments entirely. So sad to say, I really do wish Grad Nights either moved to DCA or stopped entirely because the bad always makes my day feel bittersweet, sometimes turning to sour. But I still have to comend the good ones for brightening up my day as well.

PS: The Primeval World exhibit ended with a "Spike and Sharptooth's last stand" comment. Many laughs were exchanged.

This thread is going to be fun to watch.

Re: Disneyland Resort Experience Adding Moments

      I have a few. . .
      1. Exiting Indy, and interacting with the Jungle Cruise skippers. . . like, when they point to me and say "now here's an example of some of the hideous creatures you'll find in the jungle", I respond with "you're no Brad Pitt either!"(of course, this was before they put up the bamboo wall, and the jungle river was visible from the ride.
      2. Back in the summer of 1998, the CM working the Coke cart underneath the Moonliner let me launch a bottle once(anyone remember that Coke cart, where when you bought a soda, they would launch it to you?).
      3. Riding in either the coal tender car with the conductor or the Lily Belle on the Disneyland RR or in the nosecone of the Monorail(or, on the old Mark III, in the bubble) with the driver. Those experiences made me feel like a VIP.
      4. The guest band at Tomorrowland Terrace back in 1997 who handed me a wig and sunglasses, and had me act like Elvis while they played an Elvis song. . . I wish I had a camera that day. . .
      5. Believe it or not, those rare experiences when I got walked off an attraction, and got to see them with the working lights on. . . It's really interesting to see just how they make the magic happen. . .
Pinkamena Diane Pie, is that you?

Years ago, I was on the People Mover at night. As the ride made the first turn toward Star Tours, the ride shut down. We were right overlooking the hub at the old entrance to Tomorrowland. Just then, the Electrical Parade made its way past me. I got to watch the whole parade from my own "private balcony" there. Every time a cast member came by to check on us and remind us to stay seated, we told them not to rush.

"...to anyone who will retrieve our camera from those pesky monkeys, you will be rewarded with a whole weeks supply of Jungle Cruise Oats; the dried food of choice for any Jungle Cruise Skipper..."

I swear I heard something like that over at the Magic Kingdom's Jungle Cruise radio...anyone care to verify?

I thought she meant "Jungle Cruise Boats,"but was just joking around. I suppose it could be a joke made from a common mistake, or just an amazing coincidence.

Whenever possible, offering to "take the picture" for folks. Then pretend to take pictures of yourself with "their" camera. lol
