[Question] 2 Questions From Latest Trip

Back home from latest trip to the resort. I have two questions for anyone who might know:

1. What is the determining factor for food places to give the AP discount. Why doesn't the Cozy Cone give the discount but Award Weiners does? They seem very similar to me.

2. This one is one that just got my curiosity. A little background first. Many years ago I called in sick on a Friday to make a 3 day weekend out of our trip. When we went on our first ride with pictures we all covered our faces as a joke to "hide any proof that we were there." It became a family thing. Over the years we always cover our faces with our hands on photo rides. When we went on Space Mountain in May we all happened to have those stuffed bears from Brave with us so we held them in front of our faces. When we got off the ride our picture was lost in space. We figured maybe they were unhappy that we were holding something on the ride and thought nothing of it. This weekend we went back to just covering our faces on all the rides. Everything was normal on Splash, Tower, ect. We didn't go on Space until Today. When we got off the ride our picture was there for a second and then dropped into space again. We went to the CM at the photo counter and asked why our picture was taken down. She said that "Disney policy is that everyone's face must be visible in the picture or we must delete it." Does anyone know the purpose of this policy? It's not a big deal (stupid family thing) to me but it just got me wondering. Do they delete pictures of people in Burkas? What about scared kids with their faces buried in their parents shoulder? I couldn't come up with a reasonable explanation and hoping someone here can enlighten me.

My shot-in-the-dark, absolute guess would be that it has something to do with hand signs or gang signs and instead of making a confusing policy, they've made an over-arching one.

Why that would only apply to Space and not others I don't know, so I suppose it's a crappy answer.

I believe the explanation for the food thing is whether it's considered a snack or a meal. The Cozy Cones are all considered snacks (even though I found the chilli cone carne to be very filling), while the hot dogs are considered meals. I don't know why they don't give discounts on snacks

That is correct. I asked the dude working at the new cow ice cream place on Buena Vista St yesterday, because I thought all counter service places gave a discount. He told me that if they serve an entree, then they give discounts. Otherwise, they don't.

I'm going to have to disagree with this. Gang members are cabable of displaying gang signs without covering their faces. Crappy answer indeed.

In all seriousness though, perhaps it's to prevent people from purchasing other people's photos. Since the face would be covered, there's no way to definitively "prove" that you are the person in the photo (aside from common sense, of course)... Though again, why would this be a singular policy applying inly to Space Mountain is beyond me.

And yet I bought a cup of hot tea on MS where they definitely do not sell meals and it was discounted.

That always cracks me up though, I mean the Haagen Daas at DTD will give you a discount on ice cream/shakes etc with your pass but inside of DL they won't.

I've read that the Dreyer's contract with Disney didn't allow for discounts. Hence no in-park discounts there.

I get discounts at Market House for coffee/other drinks. It's an annoying policy, discounts, but I learn and just try to avoid non-discounted locations if I can :P

i think the reason why they do not give AP discounts at the cozy cone is because they are considered as OVCs. there are no discounts given on any of the churro/popcorn/ice cream carts
